Help me diagnose: Woblin' Goblin

Hello,

Bought a 2007 2.4LNA SS and while I like it well enough I've never been able to use it to anything close to what I feel its full potential ought to be. Previously owned a Nissan Sentra Spec-V and the handling difference is night and day.

The Spec-V was day, wickedly planted and rock steady at 100MPH. Sure, it drove on its front wheels almost exclusively but once you got the feel for that it handled and FELT assured.

The Cobalt otoh is outright scary at 100MPH, floating around like an adrift boat with everything feeling vague and disconnected. As my title suggests, it wobbles badly...from the day it came home from the dealers. Going over speedbumps at low speed gives a slight "Pff" sound, leading me to believe something is cooked suspension wise.

I want to try a full shock and strut change, after reading the full 15 pages on stock suspension information...I'm still confused. Information overload. I'd like to know what you feel the problem could be AND if i can simply swap FE3 shock strut combo for this: http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P2433C188.aspx

Do I really need knuckles, etc etc to go with that FE5 package or will it swap directly into my NA 07 SS?

Thanks, been lurking for about a year now and the time has come to put a few bucks into the beast.

Mark

To those struts and shocks, add Pedders springs and an OTTP rear 1.0 street bar to your ride and you will be back in driving heaven....

you dont need knuckles to bolt up the lnf suspension, so, those shocks plus pedders and a sway bar, will make a huge difference for a reasonable price

No the shock and struts mount the same for all cobalts & g5's. The shocks and struts will cost:
Cobalt FE5 Struts and Shock Pkg FE5-S
Item #FE5-S
Cobalt FE5 Strut and Shock Package.
2008 - 2009 Turbocharged Struts and Shocks
Save over buying each part individually. These will fit 2005-2010 Cobalts.
In Stock
MSRP: $485.92 Your Price: $278.34 plus shipping

Pedders will be just above $300 somewhere
swaybar $199
Your looking at about $800
If you can install everything yourself
It sounds like shock or strut is bad. I would start there and see if it helps

TC FE5 struts + shocks.

If you're on budget, get their respective springs, otherwise get Pedders.

I get that air puff sound as well on my LT with 30k but the same sound is also heard on my wife's G8 with 7k. I thought it was normal. My car has always felt sure footed all the way up to the governor.

i always thought the pffft is just the air in the struts relieving after compression?

Thanks all!

About the Peddlers: Do I need a specialized spring compressor or will threaded rod and steel bars with rod holes do the trick?
