New Megan Coilovers Released

Megan Racing

Anyone hear anything about these? How do they compare to all the other brands (ride height, quality, adjustability)?

Sox-Fan 02-18-2013 01:17 PM

Any time I see the word "budget" in a product description I cringe a little inside.

killswitch1209 02-18-2013 01:27 PM

That's what I'm leaning towards. Although Megan is a pretty reputable company.

Gelladuga69 02-18-2013 01:41 PM

Seems like a dumbed down version of the street series, really.
Only 15 levels of adjustment and no camber.

Omiotek 02-18-2013 01:57 PM

looks like their old garbage painted a different color

c130aviator 02-18-2013 02:03 PM

local guy has megan springs, the ride on stock ss shock/strut is very nice, problem is the rears fall out in a hard corner, they are 2" shorter, dumb that they didnt include static coils like my "budget" mided CM springs.

I dont know if id say that, I got a set of megan springs used for 40k miles and they were garbage. worst ride ever.

as in, the coil springs literally fall OUT of the car?

yes, they come past, fall out of the bumpstop and get hung up under the rear of the perch

i'm gonna agree with this, for another like 40 bucks i had the street series with 32 way adjustable and camber plates. everyone has their own opinions but so far i don't have any issues with mine and i put them on last July (knock on wood). only thing i hate is that the front top spring hats are plastic and tend to bind up in cold weather so i hear a little "pop" every now and then at slow speed tight turns, i keep them greased up and summer time there's no issues

JAV119 02-19-2013 10:19 PM

I say we should get some pics of it on a car

iToastie 02-19-2013 10:19 PM

I think that means JAV119 is going to be our test monkey

Uh for what? Its going to look like a lowered cobalt.

JAV119 02-19-2013 10:39 PM

Not all coilovers give the same drop, and I'm not gonna be the test monkey lol

Ed Gein 02-20-2013 12:26 AM

I wonder how low they will go. I have Megan springs and the drop was pretty subtle. The ride is more firm of course but I like it. I'm considering these though as my car still sits too high in the rear.

exnay. Megan has a reputation for being cheap. Look up those coilovers in any forum. They fall apart in cold weather and usually end up being worse than stock.

Levels of dampening is all relative. BC racing has 32 and other companies have 15. 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell the slightest difference from 1-5, or 6-10, etc. just makes it easier to lose count. Omiotek knows uite a bit about coilovers as well. BC racing, stance, KWs and Ksports are the best buys right now for low end entry level Coils.

Of course, but I'm just comparing this new set to their existing, more expensive set which I'm on right now. And just on paper, it lacks "features". Spring rates are the same, etc. So this may just be an another affordable option for guys seeking coils.

I do as well.. It does suck that 'budget' and 'cheap' are used interchangeably :/ :thumbsdow

Just the way it is unfortunately!

09sscalicobalt 02-20-2013 05:00 PM

there higher end coilovers are great and alot of drift cars run them along with their other suspension parts but the lower the price the lower the quality

i have their downpipe and exhaust and its great not to mention it was free lol

JAV119 03-03-2013 11:17 PM

So has anyone yet to purchase a set of these?
