Rear Brake Problem?

When I get on the brakes really hard the right rear makes a sound afterward that seems like something is scraping. The faster I go the quicker the scrape gets, but it goes away after a moment. Are my rear rotors warped, and has anyone else had this problem?

My right rear caliper sticks and has worn the brake pad down to the metal. Get it checked out, sounds like it might be a similar problem.

I had a simliar problem took it in and had them check the rotors and pads, no sound anymore and cost 0$

I have that too. I did not see anything wrong with the rears when I had the car in my shop. Only when I have to brake hard its sounds like the dust shield scraping on the right rear.

I'll have it checked out tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Here's a rule of thumb:

Cobalt brakes suck.

The n/a and s/c have the rear disc. All of them are cursed. I've already had mine down there twice. The car was almost a lemon. lol.

Have them look it over. They'll fix it for free and you'll have good brakes again. Well... For at least a minute or two.

I just took my car in today for the same problem. They are trying to tell me its my driving. I have 12k on the car and I know for sure that its not me. Smell a fight brewing.

Mine's been in twice for brakes... once for front... once for rear... and I've got 6,000 miles...

I've had similiar issues and have brought it in twice. The last time was during a cold snap and after stopping at a light and starting up again, I could hear scrapping from the rear breaks. Both times the dealship has stated that they couldn't find and problems other than brake dust on the rotors!! If it happens again i'm going to have to talk to some at GM and then get them to install some aftermarkets for me (My intention being that they cover the labor)

Do you think aftermarket rotors and brake pads will do the trick or is there more that I need to look into?

Aftermarket rotors should do the trick... that's what I may end up getting.
