whats worse for your suspension?

I have always wondered what is worse for the suspension:
A. go over bumps (use suspension to absorb bumps)
B. go around bumps (use suspension to avoid the bumps)

I know option "B" will cause greater tire wear...
but, the topic is which will wear the suspension out faster? and why?

don't assume this will always be low speed or high speed, but a combination of the 2

thats a darn good question. i'm not an expert but I would think A. as the suspension is taking more sudden hard impact

vertical load vs lateral load???? hmmm

I think at speed hitting the bump directly is less of a stress

at low speed i think avoiding might be less of a stress of the bump is big

all depends...question to open ended....
How fast you are avioding, last secound? or you see it 100 ft away
How big of a bump and how fast, speed bump at 1mph is different than speed bump and 100+

I lived in bergen co. years ago and actually had stress cracks on the top of the shock towers where the struts bolt up on a 1978 FIAT 128 rally.... Jersey bumps are bad jk

well i voted to go around them since the roll would use more suspension then just the up and down motion.

well going around is a gradual use of the suspension whereas going over the bump (assuming its not one of those 4 feet wide bumps) is a very sudden jolting act
