ZZP Rotors

So I'm pulling the SS/TC out of the garage soon in April. When I put the car away I needed brakes but figured ill do it when I start driving sgain. Well it's that time.
I plan on getting drilled, slotted, or both style rotors. I know people love the R1 rotors. Powers lot is a legit company also. My question is has anyone used ZZP drilled and slotted rotors?
I plan on using stock pads despite the dust. Also I'm interested in proven set-ups people have used. What's better slotted drilled or both? Ive even seen dimpled not drilled rotors. My rear set up is just stock rotors with hawk hps pads. They have been great for 25k miles so far. I'm doing this mostly for looks but performance benefits would be welcome as well. Obviously the brake a topic had been beat to death but my main question about the ZZP rotors I haven't found anywhere. Your feed back is appreciated.

in the brake world. Typically you get what you pay for. R1 is really good. I like the ones I just put on. Posi Quiets and Drilled/slotted.

Price isn't really an issue. I was just more looking for opinions. ZZP is a proven company and I was just hoping to see if anyone had used thier rotors. R1 premiums thoug are pretty nice.

Honestly I don't think zzp would sell bad rotors.. and ced should have rotors also:)

I'm waiting for my front and rear rotors from them to arrive. Just ordered them last night. I will let you know!

I have R1C rotors but went with the solid ones because drilled will crack under heavy use (=extreme mountain driving or track use).
Since you mention you've been happy with Hawk HPS for 25k miles, I don't think drilled will be an issue for you. Nice thing about the R1C Premium rotors is that they have a durable black coating which will keep them looking nice and not rust. Again, not under extreme driving, on mine all the paint has burnt off. :)

Just an FYI, if you ever replace your pads, get OEM ones. They are about 300% better than Hawk HPS.

Cool I'd like to get the feedback. Of course they said they thought they were good but what company wouldn't promote thier own products. Like I said just wanted some feedback since the R1 and power slot are pretty proven already. Yea I plan on using the stock pads in front it just sucks though cause they dust sooooo damn much.

The cross drilled from zzp and R1 are chamfered, neither one should crack. I just ordered from R1 and the black coating was the only reason.

R1 Concepts has some bitchin ones. And cheap too

I've had the ZZP drilled and slotted for about 6 months now and they havent given me any problems. They are definately worth it to buy. Even with the stockish pads break dust is not that bad.

Under normal driving conditions they wont, but if you track your car and get nickname Devil Cobalt from other drivers on the track (Colodude18) you will destroy your rotors quickly. Wangspeed did a test of them for autox and they cracked, i'm sure his tread is somewhere around here

I'll check it out.

Haha that's right Eric, just give it to me and I'll break it ;-) BTW I'm still on my first two sets of front rotors (stock and R1C) which I alternate so that tells you they're both pretty good (approaching 35k, including many track miles). I have them machined every now and then to get rid of vibrations but other than that they've been solid (no pun intended)

i got r1's slotted up front. i dont remember what model rotors and pads but i got them to help with braking in the rain and they have made a difference, not what id like but better than stock

umrdyldo 03-20-2013 11:24 AM

Stock rotors are like $40 a piece on Amazon. Was too cheap to pass up.

I run R1 premium slotted with HPS in the rear. I've been very happy with them. Way less brake dust too. I plan on using the same combo up front when the time comes.
