Beware of James Rakes Tunes...
I forgot I had these bad boys kicking around. I blacked out the file names because fingers don't need to be pointed anywhere as far as who's cars they are. Here are a couple examples of tune files that I had repaired for a guy on here and another sent from someone asking me to help him with issues he was having. I wish I could fit a little more in the screen shot, but the disabled DTC's and Tip In Retard removal should be enough to add to the OP's point. The disabled and modified DTC's are highlighted in green because they are being compared to the stock files just in case a few of you didn't realize. Some of the b1s2 DTC's I can maybe accept due to a catless dp but everything else is just straight up ridiculous.

It can't be tho, James does not disable codes. lol
I like James, great guy and I do think he really knows his stuff. But I don't understand how his "nutswingers" as some call them can sit and defend when the facts, proof, etc. are right here.
I put nutswingers in " " because I don't think defending someone makes you one. You are obviously going to defend the person, especially if you have had a good experience.
I have had both good and bad experience with James when it comes to tuning. On a personal level James has been nothing but good to me. I wish he would just put the pride aside and own up to mistakes. He keeps saying "it's what the customer wanted", well i'm pretty sure they didn't ask for a bunch of DTC's shut off and an unsafe car. Even if they did, you say NO, and if they decide they don't want your services then oh well, less headache.
Just my $.02

I'll agree with that. I can't believe he would do that regardless of whether they understand its gonna blow up or not. When it does its your tune and your name on the product. And it looks like you sell a crappy product. He wasn't gonna go hungry if he passed up a few sales because he refused to tune something unsafe.

Putting power aside. Regardless of how much or little power the car makes, if there is any sort of issue with the car and those particular sets of DTC's are disabled the customer or mechanic working on the car would really have a hard time pin pointing an issue if it's unable to throw a code.
It's like when someone says, "I'm having X problem and Y problem with the car but it hasn't thrown a code". All symptoms with X problem point to a MAF issue and symptoms for Y problem point to a bad MAP sensor yet no codes are present. Pull the tune file as a last resort. Oh look, the MAF and MAP codes are disabled for some ungodly reason. That's odd, my tuner would NEVER do that. Re-enable the codes and boom, P0101 and P0106 pop up. The issue in this example could have been a bad sensor, a boost leak or even worse, but no one would have known nearly as fast because no DTC was thrown. This is an extremely shitty way of claiming that "the cars I tune don't throw codes". Why? There's your answer.

There is a difference between saying you had a good experience and defending "nutswinging" him/someone. You have proof james didnt disable codes on your car, that doesnt mean he doesnt do it to others and at the same time it doesnt mean he does. The OP posted what he found, as a heads up then people came in going there is no way he would disable codes, the only person that knows if he disables codes is if your him or you look every tune file he sends.
