Beware of James Rakes Tunes...
well ill be driving out to zzp anyway....lol. still undecided, thats why i jumped on this thread. figured all the tuners would be on this topic lol.
It wasn't on my car, i pulled it off a Saturn sky. The owner texted me cause his afr was 15+ @wot. We logged it and was getting 8*+ of kr cruising, tip in, wot , basically all the time haha..
Seen a few 0.95 PE lambda 27 psi tunes which is terrifying to me. Who did the tune?
i have been saying this forever. Mail tunes arent thorough enough. If you take your car seriously you should do the same with the tune.
This, I would never do a mail order tune. In person is much preferred, because the tuner actually gets to FEEL how the car is performing. I guess I'm really lucky though to have several of the best tuning shops for my car in the country just a few hours from home, both with in house dynos.

I really trust my WOT without fear of detonation. That and E85 doesnt hurt.
I have my own hp tuner... And my tune is by james rakes @ rpt. Im built running a 5857 @25psi on e47 made 426/376 on a dynojet in this great az summer heat and the dyno shop never had the fans on only got 2 pulls before iats got up to 140
very nice. the shop you pulled on couldn't take a look at the tune?
I havnt had any issues with that tune which I ran for quite some time ive since installed zzp cams once I install my pwerks spacers I may dyno again once it cools down and see what numbers I put down
Say what you will but I do some of my best work remotely. None of my tunes are "mail order" though because to me that term implies a canned tune sent out to everyone not a full custom tune. I can see everything I need to and I can also tell when there is an issue like a hiccup (minor misfire) or a boost leak. I can even spot a MAF issues such as turbulence in the logs and suggest ways to fix the issue. When someones car is having issues in person they have to be fixed before tuning and as such it ends up being a lot of wasted time seeing as they have to come back when the issues is fixed (I do not "work" on other peoples car), but remotely they can fix the issue and then we can resume tuning easily. As far as tuning goes those who do a dyno tune only are the ones really missing out because not only do 99% of the dynos out there no replicate real world loads but since you are only at wide open throttle that is the only area that gets tuned.
