Eaton M62 max RPM with boost
Hello,
I Hope you can help me. I see that some from you drive a Eaton M62 Kompressor. I have the Same in my Mercedes W202 C230K. 2.3L with 0.5 Bar and 193 HP. So now i will make more Boost. But i dont know wht Pulley Size. Crank Pulley is 192mm Kompressor Magnet Clutch is ~93mm Make on 6.000 rpm from the Engine 12.000 RPM on the M62 How many RPM can make the Kompressor? I Was thinkt about 78mm= 14.760 Rpm Or 68mm? 16.920 rpm. Where is the Maxout rpm from the Kompressor? My Goal is round about 250 HP. Maybe somebody can help me here. Sorry for my Bad English. I am from Germany |
the biggest thing with these blowers is cooling, does your car have a heat exchanger system? when dropping pulley sizes you tend to create a lot of heat, these blowers arent very efficient when you start dropping pulley sizes. you can spin these blowers quite fast, a typical setup on these cars can see 7000 rpm redline, a 2.8" (71.12mm) top pulley and our lower is 6.18" (157mm), giving a ratio of 2.20, pulling the blower at 15,450 at redline, and that will make around 16psi of boost (1.1 bar). these blowers seem to last a long time doing that. some people with more extreme setups spin them way faster, ive heard of setups that run between 18,000-20,000 rpm, the blowers do seem to last alright doing that, but they are very inefficient.
getting 250hp shouldnt be an issue from the blowers standpoint, its the rest of the package you need to be concerned with. you need some decent flowing exhaust and a way to keep the air temperature under control. the rest of it is what the engine will actually take does it have a forged rotating assembly? what are other people running for boost? im sure your not the first one to want to up the boost on one of these cars. |
Hey,
Heat exchanger System? You mean maybe a intercooler? Yes My Mercedes have one. I have a ratio from 2.0. And make 0.5 Bar. Redline from the Engine is 5800 RPM. I think i make a a ratio from 2.8. Then they will make on 6000 rom from the Engine = 16800 RPM. Yeah i know from a Setup in Germany, the dude make 21.000 RPM. They have on the Crank 222mm and the Pulley on the Compressor 62mm They said me, the Compressor make 0.85 Bar. But i hear something from 14.000 - 18.000 is the Redline from the Compressor. But i havent found what, who know it to 98% where is the Redline. |
Im sure there is a compressor map for the m62 online somewhere.
