HPtuners-PRO or Standard

well im heavily considering buying hptuners....and i was wondering what everyone thinks....should i go with the PRO version or should i go with the standard version since im new to the tuning world?.....keep in mind i eventually plan to use hptuners to help tune my car for boost......so what do you all think? should i go with hptuners standard or take the plunge and by the pro?

foff667 08-13-2007 06:54 PM

pro, no question about it.

Area47 08-13-2007 07:00 PM

i have the standard version. i didn't have the money at the time to get the pro.

i just have to hide the laptop when i go to the track so they don't say anything about it

patathSS 08-13-2007 07:03 PM

What track gives you shit about your laptop? HPT has never said anything. I like Pro because you can tap your wideband in direct.

How hard is tuning? I take it you have a bunch of car-know-how. And I say go Pro. Forget standard. Get all the options! :cssNET:

UmeNNis 08-13-2007 08:29 PM

Sunburst_SS 08-13-2007 08:33 PM

so your pretty much learning from scratch with hptuners?

REDFOCZ 08-16-2007 11:09 AM

Right now I am useing the standerd. If you have the money get the pro. But both do the same things, but the pro has the abliaty for logging with out a laptop, and outputs to log up to four other gauges such as a wideband.

Gotta start somewhere right? :twothumbs

I never tuned a computer in my life until I purchased hptuners 3 some odd years ago & haven't looked back. If you have a willingness to learn you'll succeed.

Do they work with MAC's?? Or am I gunna have to DL Bootcamp?

Area47 08-16-2007 11:44 AM

if you can understand how a motor works, and what does what inside hpt, and how it will affect the motor. you will be fine.

basically a good grasp of the internal combustion engine.

This is all stuff I need a little help with when I dive into this also. But I'm not planing on just jumping in.

Any 1 know about the MAC compatibility

so then its pretty simple then i guess right?.....just curious but what could be gained from tuning my car which has an exhaust and possibly an intake...probably not much...bbut for me it would be a good place to start

I wouldn't really call it simple if you've never tuned before. It takes some time to get comfotable with everything that HPTuners can do. It's like learning anything, really. You're not going to get HPT and dive right into getting your car dialed in. You're going to start taking small steps, read the forums and help files, ask some questions and learn more and more untill you can take bigger steps.

You can gain a lot no matter what your mods. Even stock, you will gain horsepower, gas mileage, etc. Even with the few mods that I have, I have gotten much better power (as gauged by butt dyno), better mileage and much smoother power. The driveability has improved too.

mike25 08-18-2007 05:57 PM

ok...well that sounds good....i think im going to buy it...just not sure yet....start off small....is all the tuning option organized neatly on the screen or is it a maze trying to figure different things out like serious tuning and stuff(air/fuel)....

SJSchafer 08-18-2007 07:16 PM

Nah, it's pretty straight forward. Things are arrainged in a way that makes sense.
