lean spike at idle- occasionally

If I let the car sit long enough, the afr's will jump to 16.5 afr, and the car will have a slight vibration to it and within 3-4 seconds its back down to 14.7ish afr.

normal?

The only real benefit to platinum and iridium plugs is longer life. Copper is still the tried and true spark plug, since it's a better conductor of electricity.

correct. smaller gap as you go smaller pulley. you may have to start at .040 and work your way down until you find a happy gap.
