Cobalt SS Network - pre-tune check list

this is a simple guide for you, the end user of getting your cars calibration changed due to the mods you have done. simple really. the basis behind this is to make it go as smooth as possible.

engine.
make sure you do not have any check engine lights. outside of rear 02 codes and/or cat codes for catless downpipes or removed rear 02 sensors. if you have codes such as a maf code, or misfire code {on stock cams}, map sensor codes, or anything that can not be readily fixed with a calibration change, fix it. or do not take it to your tuner. if you are changing fuels, make sure you car is on empty, this will alter the final outcome and will have to make a return trip. make sure your injectors are seated correctly and have fresh spark plugs in the car gapped correctly. oil and coolant levels are correctly checked and filled to their required levels.

the person doing the calibration may charge you extra for working on your car to fix the problems you have brought to them. or they may not do it at all and send you away until it is fixed.

suspension. make sure everything is up to date and torqued correctly. the tuner make be required to do some higher speed runs and last thing that needs to happen is a broken suspension piece ending someones life due to negligence on your part.

wheels. makes sure they are torqued correctly and the tires are properly inflated and have no cords or belt showing.

supercharged cars. make sure the blower bolts are torqued correctly, the belt is on correctly and proper tension is applied.

turbo cars. check for boost leaks, leaking cartridges, or blown seals. proper maintenance of parts is required.

also, as a common courtesy to the person doing the calibration. please make arrangements with them in advance, not an hour before. please stick to your pre-arranged plans be it a week or two in advance and at that time. if you say you're going to be there at 10:00 am. don't call at 2pm and say you're running late. we know this. a phone call or text before determined time will be most appreciated. do not be in a hurry either. calibrations take time. depending on the mechanical state of your car, it could be an all day thing. i myself prefer to keep the car for a couple days if possible. cold starts, different driving conditions and a range of temperatures.
