07 SS\SC vs 2013 civic SI
 

Buddy of mine bought the car a few months back, and has been bugging me for awhile to race. I ran into him on the highway one night and we proceeded to do a few runs. One was 2nd gear at about 85km which I pulled about 2 car lengths right away and kept pulling away. And 3rd gear at 110-115km which we were even until 125 ish and I pulled away. I let out of it when I figured I was far enough ahead to prove a point.

The new ones are faster then the k20 versions. But nothing worth mentioning. My car has the air box mod, cut out resonator and borla muffler.

He was pretty shocked I bet him as bad as I did, I just told him don't believe all that the salesman tell you about the SI's being a "rocket"

All that hype in the commercials and still getting walked by basically stock f/i cars. Honda needs to either step up or step out of the si sports car game.

They need to step out. If they don't go turbo they will never be in the game

Lol they are jokes. Back when I wasn't on e85, less mods, and a conserv tune I put 3 and a half cars from 40-80. Had a clogged cat and my intake was collapsing so I couldn't go past 80 lol

On my old 2.8/60 setup on pump gas I was able to walk an 07 Supercharged SI by a few cars, had the jackson racing kit. They are not that impressive.

i dont get why honda is so behind in the sport compact market. they NEED to make a turbo motor. everyone else is doing it, hondas known for making good MPG motors, and a turbo would only help that. they are doing pretty good in every aspect besides... go go juice

The day Honda makes a turbo civic....fanboys heads will explode. There will be mobs at the dealerships. The cars will sell for double the retail sticker. Become an instant collectors car. And most importantly, the famous saying "It's got a Vtec yo" will now become "It's a Turbo yo".

been reading a few articles abotu the 2015 civic, its been rumoured to be turbo'd,

i think it was because the cruze curb stomped wtcc 2012


and give credit where credit is due :) we wouldnt have SS cobalts if it wasnt for the SRT4 neon, and we wouldnt of had the srt4 if japanese 4 cylinders didnt dominate small car preformance since the 90s

and when it comes down to it, we all know brands mean nothing unless your getting corporate sponsorship. any car, with any engine can be a monster with the right parts.

honda engineers some extremely well balanced 4 cylinders. there is a reason why you can spin a honda above 10k, and not our engines.

Can you immagine what kind of shit power a 2.0L ecotec would make if it wasnt getting air rammed down it through a super/turbo?

honda is a fantastic company, unfortunately my brain cant think about honda without instanly thinking of vtec ricer fanboys :(

Perfect example is the F20/F22, Revs outrageously high, competes NA vs our cars (stock atleast), and have been boosted to around 700HP on STOCK INTERNALS with tons of abuse (other supporting mods, ARP Headstuds, fueling, etc). I know the LNF is very stout, but it was also built with FI in mind, while the F20/F22 was not.

I had one from a dig in a stock 1990 miata.... well he spun I hooked didn't catch me till 90ish then I let out... literally 100whp is all I had hahhah.

Technically Honda has made a production turbo motor. It was only in the RDX to the best of my knowledge though.

I just dont think honda cares about performance. The si sells fine like it is so why bother spending money to upgrade it? The dropped the turbo 4 ib the rdx for their v6. It made more power and got better mileage ratings which they do seem to care about.

I don't think Honda is looking for performance. They're stout, reliable cars with good mpg and they sell well.

Sorry to raise an old thread from the dead, but Honda's first turbo was the Legend in 1988, though only available for 2 years in Japan. It never made it to the US because the 2nd generation Legend was introduced. A lot of the technology from that 2.5L (c25a) Turbo was used to develop the NSX's (c30a) engine.

K20s aren't even that fast, got a buddy with a k20 swap in an 06 si and I wreck him every time. He's on bolt ons, Honda's chipped/tuned and I've got a cai and exhaust. Stomp him, vtec is overrated lol

so your budy has a 06 si that already comes with an k20 and he swapped a k20. he must be fast

I drive an 09 si at least once a week... they are not fast. though I will give credit where credit is due... they are well built. The fit and finish is miles ahead of a cobalt. 8k redline is nice too. not a bad car, but unless you have tons of money to spend... I would never own one for speed :r:

ehh for the most part they arent but they know damn well that a good portion of their customers are people trying to go fast. and they sell cars with body kits, 'si' badges and 'vtec' stickers to make the customer feel like they are buying a quick car.

This. I know a guy who thinks the si is like the holy grail of tuners. Got killed by a stock fr-s.

I took his word for it that it was a swap because I couldn't have cared what was in it. Reason being.. its a civic, regardless of series.
Those type R 'tegs though..

A kid around here has a b18c type r engine I swapped into a hatch and it's pretty quick. Mostly on the account at how light it is

The Honda Civic will be getting turbos, but they won't be here in the US yet. I do respect Honda and its brand... But I don't respect the people who go over board with it. Those are the people that kill it. I like my fair share of Hondas just like I like my fair share of Balts. People always hate on Honda but they do build an awesome motor that runs great and can out last almost anything. That's what they are in the game for, reliability. Not for racing.

I find there are a lot of people that side with me about hating the people that drive Hondas versus Honda its actual self cause those are the people who destroy it for the rest of us.

I wish there was a like option. I find that the majority of children get these Cobalt's and are worse that Ricers. I bought mine back in 2009 with my own money and I worked hard to pay it off. It's the lack of respect that these children have. No morals, this generation is garbage. Lol. I always have and always will have the utmost respect for Honda as a manufacturer.

back in the day i had an 06 SI with intake and exhaust only and walked a ss/sc with an intake. lol

Back in the day when my car was stock, I walked all over an 8th gen....

I'm starting to like the newer ones with the larger motor. Seems like the additional torque they needed for years will make the car a lot more fun.

my daughter's 2012 civic is not a race car. but at 80 on the hwy that little car get's nearly 50 mpg. Not fast as i said. But fun to drive. The only thing i hate about it is road noise. that something they have had for a long time! At 110 it sounds like the tires are coming thru the body.

A friend of mine has a 4 door Civic Si, it really is fun to drive. It's definitely not fast but really it handles well and loves to rev.

Best friend has a 03 rsx type S, girl owned so not a single mod :( is fun to drive above 5300, below that my slow junk would take it
