08 SS/TC vs 09 Mitsu Eclipse GT
08 SS/TC vs 09 Mitsu Eclipse GT
The other morning I had just pulled out from DD with a hot cup of Coffee and this guy in an Eclipse GT comes along side of me at the next red light. I looked down at the temp guage and it was about 41 F outside, a cool morning for South Carolina but anyways I could tell he wanted to run so I was kind of iffy about it because it being so cool and my tires are 3/4 bald. Well I decided to run him and he raped me from a dig. I had like ZERO traction. Anyone else run one? They have V6 rated @ 265 and 262 lb ft tq. I guess they are pretty close to our SS/TC's in performance.
Not gona lie, I don't know too much about those rides, I know the 08's with the same numbers you posted here got a really bad Review from Motortrend. They claim 0-60 in 5.8 but stock for stock it should be a drivers race with the TC maybe having a slight edge. I like those cars tho, they look a little space-shippy but nice all around.

They weigh over 3,400 lbs... so stock for stock with identical drivers on identical tires the TC should win.
Not gonna lie... there's new white and yellow ones running around town and they're pretty sharp... but expensive here in
vs what you could get otherwise. The V6 starts at $35k here.

a 2009 eclipse gt is slower than a ss/tc from a dig and a roll
0-60 in 5.8
1/4 mile in 14.3
they are pretty similar in power and torque but they weight a ton. you must have just had a shitty launch.

Though theres not a single magazine that managed to get 14's out of the 3rd gen V6 Eclipse GT yet many members did it BONE STOCK. The 4th gen is the same way. Dont go by magazine times. If you get a good driver its possible to get a good time out of it. But small things like intake and flywheel make a very nice difference. My 3rd gen had no problem hanging with mustang gt 5 spds with exhaust (99-04 models). trust me it got a few mustang owners feelings hurt. Sad thing is im a mustang fan. But hey a race is a race and a kill is a kill.
i have a 05 ss/sc with raw 3inch intake and a muffler and my little brother has an 06 eclipse gt with aem short ram intake and ripp long tube headers from a 40 roll he starts to walk away from me every time. I like the look of them but there back seat is to cramped.
i took one from a roll... i didnt really intend on racing him but i passed him on the highway and of course i passed him and i see him speed up so he was beside me and he gunned it so i dropped to 3rd and he got embaressed.... his plate said kiss it so he was kissin mine
yep. for those of you that read super street or import tuner know they did dyno mod test on this car. intake and header back car was putting down 300ish to the wheels
This is amazing. An ss/tc should freaking rape a v6 gt eclipse. I beat the brakes off one when I was bone stock with just a raised rev limit. That's all, just a bumped rev limit to 7500rpms. I beat him from a dig and roll by multiple car lengths.
wow, just wow.
they are rated right around 260/260, so 240ish whp is about right. Same as the ss/tc, and a ss/tc should rape those porky cars.

Stock to stock, from a roll SS/TC dominates hard.
I have seen vids of GT's in the high 13s...so as always from a dig, it can depend up to the driver.
But for the most part an SS/TC should win.
265 its about spot on for the 8-10% for FWD drivetrain loss.
Even so, the 2% is splitting hairs.
Even though agreeing with ralli sets my nuthairs on fire

tc does dominate without a doubt, the handling of the eclipse isnt so hot either. oh well, hopefully the next one is better
I agree, if the eclipse was a rwd car, it's be a whole different story. That car would go mid to low 13's. Still be porky from a roll though.
I'd still rather own a hyundai genesis.
I don't know what your problem is.

It, in a nutshell, is a RWD GT.
Only even less room in em that the oversized/overweight GT.
Never got how you can make a car SO big and have no room in it.
