2 Recent Fun Runs

I don't get to run many quick cars in the summer time but these two were worth sharing

1st - My 2nd HC kill - White Challenger HC 8spd auto

Ran into two gents that were in business attire, heading towards the airport on the freeway. They were goofing around prior to but I kept my distance and stayed within range. When it finally cleared up and we had plenty of space, I tossed it into 3rd gear and got next to them. Took a little coaxing but they went WOT from around 60ish and I followed suit. By the top of third, I stopped their pull and came door to door. By 140 I had pulled ahead by a car and a half, maybe 2? Both were smiling big and throwing a thumbs up.

2nd - White 2dr BMW 335i - Auto

I've spoken with this guy before on a couple of occasions while filling up at the local ethanol station. He claims it's a bolt on car with a Pure Turbo stage 1 or 2 upgrade (I don't recall, honestly) and an upgraded fuel system. We happen to cross paths on my way home and he sling-shots around me, to get my attention. I excitedly get behind him and we both turn left onto an open road. He of course is rather aggressive and speeds up ahead but is holding a gear. Just as I'm approaching, ready in 2nd gear, he hits it with me about 1 1/4 cars back. The Michelin's dead hook, I run 2nd gear out quickly and stop his pull. 3rd gear has me creeping up and pulling even. I NLS into 4th (and pucker a bit...) and start to inch out on him. By 130ish, I've got a half car, maybe a tad more on him and we shut it down.

The craziest part about these races? I've got my factory DP on and I'm only hitting 21-22psi. I'm enjoying the dead quietness of the car and will probably just keep it like this. It's obviously running just fine

have you been out to the apache trail yet? supposed to be done repaving "end of summer" but I don't know how far along they are. admittedly the repaving announcement was some motivation to start building my kit car.

Always nice to keep up or pull ahead against higher priced cars.

Back on topic, these are nice kill stories, and as JD said, to live vicariously through them. At best I'll outrun a Civic SI only because Asians don't know how to drive.

Then again, I decline 99% of the "challenges".

Very nice runs. Its nice hearing what these cars can do. Its hard finding a race where im at and if i do its them blowing past and thats it lol. Latest was a Focus RS. Saw him behind and slowed down to let him get beside me. Ended up just being me chasing him and having to let off the gas so i dont run into him until he started wildly weaving in and out of lanes between cars. No thank you.
