2007 Cobalt ss/sc vs 2014 Mustang v6

I'm leaving work when my friend pulls up in his white convertible mustang, so we stay talking for a bit. As we get ready to leave he asks if I wanna race. I say yeah sure lets go as i had never raced him or a new model v6 mustang. We go onto FM 495 and do 3 races. First one from a 40 roll. He honks 3 times and I immediately put about 2 cars length on him and keep it until 80ish mph. Second race we do a 30 roll. He honks agian and I put about the same length on him agian and keep it until 70mph. The 3rd one is where I get raped lol. The 1st and 2nd races he ran me in auto in the 3rd he uses the manual mode on his car and proccedes to beat me by about 2 cars and pulling. We ran it from a 30 too. His car is factory stock and all and mine has injen intake, full 2.5 exhaust, downpipe and cat delete. I'm upgrading to stage 3 very soon so ima give it another go then.

You will definitely beat him with stage 3. Didn't know they had auto and manual mode.

Jaja yeah man I'm from Alamo. You?

Nd I think the 2014 camaros and mustangs did come with that option because I have another friend with a camaro same year with the manual mode.

And sure hope I beat him lol

Those mustangs can get pretty heavy optioned out even with that v6, not surprised you pulled him at all.

Yeah they are heavy cars but I still have respect for them though. Idk if you have seen that v6 mustang that ran 12s all motor just with bolt ons and slicks. That's pretty damn quick for a naturally aspirated v6!👍

The new v6's are actually quite impressive, 300hp stock. Still heavy cars though

Yeah the convertibles are around 3600lbs and the coupes are about 3500. The AT convertibles on the 2014s only come with 2.73 rear axle ratio. My 12' MT V6 came with 2.73s and it was a SLUG from a stop, okay from a roll. I upgraded to 3.55s and it's a night and day difference. A 3.31 rear axle AT V6 Coupe would be much quicker. The AT V6 Convertibles would be considered the "slowest" of the V6 lineup. You would tear him up with Stage 3. Good run!

Yes those new V6's 2011 and up go at 308HP stock, not to bad, and the have a control on the left side of the shifter that allows you to up and down shift like a manual

Most sportier cars so these days, if it's anything like my buddy's g6 gxp he had, I'd stick to auto stock, manual takes to long for the tranny to shift after u goto next gear, unless u shift a second before u actually want to

They can run 13's with factory power so they are no slouch. Against a basically stock LSJ they should be a good run as mentioned above if they have decent gears.

i agree some cars do react slower if changed to manual mode but in those new mustangs it responds quite quick. The same goes for those new camaros.

Lund Racing tunes the fastest 2011+ NA 3.7L V6 Mustang at 12.63 in the Quarter Mile - Lund Racing
Not even impressive. We are talking another $5k in work on that car to get that result, with slicks.

Might as well buy a 5.0

You must have some pretty high expectations then. 3500lbs with a 3.7L engine going that fast down the 1/4, it has my respect. Most of the Tuned LNFs on this site aren't getting those times. Yeah, that guy has a ton of boltons. Nitrous is the only way to get those times without going over the cost of a 5.0. That's why alot of modded V6 owners end up buying the 5.0 in the end. I on the other hand use my 12' V6 as my DD. I get 27-28 on the hwy 19-20 city. It's quick for what it is, I don't see myself dropping the ball on a 5.0 though.

Alot of folks have high expectations for the 2015 ecoboost. I don't see why with the small turbo they're coming with.
