Cavalier vs G8

So last night we went out and we ran into this z24 cavalier and he seem cool at the moment until he popped his hood and talked about his car.

He said his car pushes 205 hp to the wheels all motor. and that he beats turbo civics easily. and once he puts a turbo on his car it will beat any car in the parking lot. the mods from wat i heard on his 2.4 LD9 motor was intake, header, exhaust, cams.

So we challanged him to race our friends Pontiac G8 Gt. Mods are straight pipe with flowmasters and tune.

here are the videos:

My question is can a z24 cavalier ever hit 200 hp all motor without internal work?

Edit: I didn't realize you said without internal work.

Well that race should put him in his place.

The 2.4L in those are not ecotecs

Sizzle06 09-27-2009 08:50 PM

Thats what i was going to say

WickedSS2005 09-27-2009 09:58 PM

Since when did the LD9 become an ecotec? lol The only cavy eco's were the 2.2's in the last couple years. Until then, it was 2200 and LD9 (2.4)

stenguyen1 09-27-2009 10:18 PM

Edit post my bad I thought I change it to the ld9 not ecotec my fault

Yeah I had an LD9 Cav and that 2.4 only makes 150, came out in like 1994 I think as a 2.3. The OHV 2.2 in the Cavy was an absolutely heartless motor.

Isnt it bad practice to drive your car down dirt roads with slicks on?? I cant see a passanger seat so im assuming the inside is fairly gutted, either way nice times for all motor

I liked my 2.4l sunflower when I had it.

Granted he said no internal work done, but I wonder if he counts cams as internal work. You could swap the 2.3l cams into the 2.4 for a good 30hp gain iirc.
