there used to be a rumor a few years back when the newer style tibs came out that the 4cyls were awesome, but there was block failure over around 225hp, this rumor developed because some guy decided to strap one to the dyno, and load it with as much nitrous as he could before it blew up without tuning or anything, just fed more and more and more NOS into it and somewhere between 225 and 250whp the engine blew......well when you try to spray an engine with a 150 shot with no tuning, and factory stamped aluminum pistons, guess what? stuff breaks.... so anyway, the rumor came about that the 2.7L "delta" was a weak engine, due to the block cracking, which has been widely disposed of or so I thought, due to companies like NxtGen Motorsports who has done a WORLD of difference for our tiburon commnunity, with aftermarket performance parts, who has cars capable of sub 12 second passes

The old tiburon 2.0 motors were great. They still are great. If I planned to turbo, Id buy a 4 cyl tiburon first as they respond MUCH better and can easily be put into the 12's with a intercooled turbo.

The v6's DO blow the bottom ends with boost. That isnt a ******* rumor I dont care what you say. Ive been around the tib community for a few years (I was around before the GK's were). I had a 99 tib for about 4 years. **** that v6 motor, its a piece unless TONS of money is dumped into it. Granted, the 2 liter WONT come alive with a supercharger, but turbo it and your golden. That motor can easily hold 300 whp without worrying about internals. Anyone who says different is full of it.

i have to agree with an0malous. something isnt right. i think the most likely explanation is that the dyno you were at sucked majorly. only thing is, the SS dynoed where it should have, which doesnt help things here. if you have 168hp then i promise you are not running a 14.2. youre not even breaking 100mph. BUT, if in fact the dyno wasnt right, and you DO have around 200hp, then this whole thing is more believable. dyno again or get some track videos. i wanna see what this car is all about if you did indeed hang with a SS.
