Son Of A Honda Prelude (Lost...?!?!))

Okay, if you don't know I have an 07 cobalt lt...

Anyways, I was driving home from my girlfriends little sisters softball game...and this prelude pulls up to me, starts revin his engine...So Im like okay cool, here we go... I drop down to netrual, hit 3200 rpms, throw it back into drive, rev up to 3000rpms...Light turns green and I bolt off....guys still behind me, didnt launch so Im like okay whatever.... start slowing down... prob around 4th gear right before guy comes hauling ass past me talkin ****....So im like okay lets try this again....come up to a red light, this time didnt bother to launch correctly...light turns green, we both pull off at the same spped than around 30mph this guys prelude really picked the hell up....guy was like a full car length in front of me... so morale of the story....how the hell did a prelude do that? Ive always looked down on hondas....booo.... so preludes come with a pretty good engine setup or what?

why is this in the drag racing section? thread moved.

you lost because you drive an AUTO lt. would help tons if you tell us what year the prelude was.

You drive an LT. The prelude wasn't fast you were just slower. If it was a 97+ then it had an H22 which will own you every time.

most preludes will take a 2.2; being that the prelude was the "highest" model in thier era i wouldnt be surprised. if it was a 1.6VTEC/Non vtec civic i would say u have a problem but all hondas will eat us (2.2s) in the top end

Yeah, unfortunately Prelude 2.2 > Cobalt 2.2 by far at stock levels.

Nice looking cars, too, if you can find one that has been properly taken care of. Expensive, though...~25k for a new one back in 2000.

A stock Prelude with the H22 would be a very good run with a 2.4 Cobalt, and with a 5spd and good driver would probably take a 2.4 Cobalt.

I know a guy from back in highschool that has a '00 Prelude, I wanna race him at the strip. His engine is stock I think 199hp and like 150tq. I have a 2.2L stick, cai, intake mani, exhaust, lightweight rims and good tires. I think its a drivers race and thats why i think i can beat his ass lol. He also has a subs and **** in the trunk, whereas im taking out my spare tires and rear bench in the race.

2.2 Vtec + 5 speed=2.2 auto getting pwned. That's if it was the 2.2 Vtec.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo true.

The first time I went to the track, before any modding, my first race was against an older civic hatch. Looked stock. No body kit. Quiet. We get to the line, I look over, he's putting on a helmet... Damn...

yeah, if the dude next to you, at the track, is putting on a helmet and you're not, you're pretty much fucked.

b4 the cobalt thats what I was all about, Hondas. Yeah I know, what was I thinking? Anyways, that prelude if indeed an h22 mt, will run a 9.9 1/8th and 15.1 1/4 stock with a driver who has some clue. So a cobalt Lt would be no problem for him.

Just dont shift from N to D unless you are idling, if you wanna leave it in D and bring up the RPMs thats fine. Just don't shift it at 3k from N to D, it will eventually break your torque converter, and those probably aren't cheap.
