Spirited fun with a Monte SS
 

So i'm crusing on my way and i just happen to go by the local hang out of a town just south of where i live. there were a ton of cars there and even more people then to be expected. As i went buy i noticed that i was catching a lot of attention and just about everybody was looking my way so i threw a quick rev. As i get down the road a few blocks i see not one but two sets of headlights come shooting out of that parking lot and coming up pretty quick. Giving them the benefit of the doubt i just let em come.

About the time they get to my car he hits the other lane and passes me doin about a buck ten or so. Seeing this monte fly by me like that and hearing his exhaust as he went by encouraged me to play. So i drop it to second, pined it, and caught him in no time. By the time i hit 150 i had atleast two bus lengths on him. So after he flashes his lights at me i come to a stop and he pulls up next to me. "Sweet ride. Can you give me a quick rev so i can hear it again." By this time his budy pulls up behind us and gets out to complement me on the car also. (The buddy has an SRT-4 thats in the shop getting body work done) so i ask the monte if he's ready to go and then he starts to give me the studdering double talk of not wanting to race but wouldn't give me a reason why.

So i just nodded and told him it was fun and then he took off a little spirated so with an evil grin on my face so do i as i wined her up and let him here it as i blow by him again. Well, after all that i'm gonna have to say that 2.8 made a huge difference with the Stg 2... Also i know Montes aren't the fastest car out there but i do know for a fact that they can be descent with the right mods.

I just bought a 2006 SS Monte, it is faster then my 2006 SS Cobalt.

This monte was by no mees stock either. it had a 12" Brake upgrade along with a sweet sounding exhaust system and lowered i believe. This is all i could gather just from the outside.

what year monte? was it a brand new one with the small block?

It was the '00-'05 body style.

Not to be a dick but trying to be helpful but at least to put some paragraphs in there.

I really liked the Monte SS it will be even better when they make it RWD. I think I may pick up a Impala SS for my family car.:D

BTW, me and commas don't go together well.

well you shouldnt lose to a stock monte carlo ss. When my fiancee was looking for a new car we test drove the impala ss and we raced. I won. We shut down at 95 or so.

So Stage 2 will take you past 150 MPH? If So what is the top speed with stage 2? Just curious, which is why I didn't do a search....

2nd ends at what around 60?, so i assume if you "dropped" it into 2nd you were cruising at 45ish in third when he passed at 110 and you managed to gain 105 mph + 60 ft' on him..

stock for stock 06 impala and monte SS are faster than the stock SS/SC...they are automatics too

00-05 body style is slower ;)

i wasnt too far from stock. Their off the line power is crap. They pick up all their speed at 60+ . All I had done at the time was a pulley. True it gave me 10 + hp but still my point is that is a 30k car with 303 hp.

Well then, let me be more specific. I was cruising maybe 33mph tops cuz we were in a 30 zone. I didn't have a radar gun so i wasn't for sure what speeds he was actually pushing. And i was closer to (not at or past)70-75 when i hit third. I'm not making this shit up for one thing because i'm supposed to go back down there after the other guy gets his SRT back. And like mentioned earlier, the 00-05 montes are exactly the fastest. I did own a Grand Prix before this car and i do know that the 3800's can be meen, but if all he had was Exhaust and a few exterior things done then so be it. All i know is when i was coming up behind him strong he did not hit his brakes once. If he let off then he would be the only one to know. But when i looked up in my rearview and couldn't see anything (Damn SS Wing) i looked in my driverside mirror and he looked to be two busses back. No i did not go find two busses and put them between us nor did i measure it out. And one more thing don't ever us me and ricer in the same sentence ever again, cuz that shits not funny.

They excel off the line from a dig.

My 06 SS Monte puts 3 -4 cars on the Cobalt SS from a dig and a stock Cobalt doesn't have to power to catch up.

If the traction control was left on, then this would somewhat explain a crappy launch, but if its turned off, that LS4 is pretty mean out of the hole, it will get a jump on my 636hp SRT, but of course in that car I have the HP to catch the Monte.

Ya, if he's saying it was an 00-05, then it didnt have the 5.3 small block, maybe the SC 3.8 though, that's more believeable...

i can't wait till they make it rwd again,,,, when they do im getting an SS and modding it like a BITCH:guns:
