SS/SC Vs. 03+ Tibby

I was out for another cruise lastnight when I passed by a newer V6 Tiburon(I think it was black?). I looked it over a bit when I was cruising by to see if it was a V6, which it was, then I just kept my 45 mph pace and pretty much forgot about the car because it didn't seem like the driver was interested. Well, I was wrong. He's about 4 lengths behind me when he drops it down and tries to catch me from behind(this move is getting old).I punched it when he was about 2 cars back and was in 3rd gear at 45 mph which puts me at about 2300 rpm or so when, so I wasn't in much of a racing mode, but I didn't bother to drop it down a gear out of laziness. This gave him the opportunity to get about 1 1/2 cars ahead before the SS finally picked up some momentum and I started to gain on him. But what do you know, the bastard jumps me from behind, then shuts down before I pass him.

I just said to myself that it figures and slowed down to a normal pace. Since he had fallen back after he nailed the brakes he was coming up on me again. I looked directly over at him and it was a puggy little kid that couldnt have been more than 17 years old. Then he did something I really didn't expect. He made this strange fish lipped motion with his mouth in an effort to taunt me over his "victory". So I followed behind him after changing lanes to the next red light. I'm behind him at the light and he's the first car in line. I've got my window cracked and I can hear some younger guys in the back of a pickup that's in the left turn lane say to him "Looks like you've got some trouble behind you dude." I chuckled a bit while admiring the E46 convertable M3 a lane over.(Yes I know the M would have destoyed me if it wanted to play)

Light goes green and we both take off normaly with me behind him a length and a half. Once we're clear of the intersection and the 2 cars that were at the light the kid goes for it at about 35 mph. I waited for him to get another length for safety's sake and I nail it. I changed a lane over to the left as I'm now reeling him in fast. I caught him at the beginning of 3rd which is around 65 mph and slingshot passed him, with just enough time to look over and let him know I appreciated his ricer-flyby by letting him know I thought he was number 1. The expression on his face was priceless. I shut her down at 90-95 with a few lengths on him and made a left to hit the freeway and go home. He followed me on the freeway and was driving at a fast pace so I figured he wanted a go on the top end. But for some reason he cuts off a bunch of cars behind me and jump on the first exit ramp, staring me down while leaving. :screwy: Anyway, that was my fun for the night.

Why do none of these kids have any honor? What the hell is the matter with actually lining up with someone and having a fair run?

Aren't Hyundai Tiburon female cars? That kid must have a sack with no nuts....
There's a 16 year old kid with a modified M3 in these parts, rumor is he's faster then the STi his sister drives.
Good writeup

Don't go feeling all big and mighty about your kill. If you'd race a S/C Tibby then it'd be a fair fight.

how would an aftermarket s/c v6 be a 'fair' run against a stock s/c 4 banger?

The Tiburon is pretty slow when its stock.....it only has 170 hp.....buits very reliable and very well built and its definitely more of a show car then a racer.....But beware the motor is very bottled up from factory and it takes to mods extremly well...at only 5 psi we are hitting 300 whp....and naturaly aspirated we gain power very easily, i gained 78 at the wheels from my mods..............

but stock for stock the Tiburon is no match for the Cobalt SS........though it looks nicer and doesn;t share its body with a common comuter

I find the 300whp number hard to believe with only 5psi.

Ive actually heard numbers close to that quite a bite... They do have almost 10.5 compression and 2 more cylinders... I suppose with the right tune and couple supporting mods it could be viable....

http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53315

A guy with 5 psi putting down 237whp.

other mods:

Alpine stage 0
2.75" pulley
Borla exhaust
SSA headers
Mafterburner
Injen SRI
P&P lower IM

Not sure if that is a GT or not. If it's not then those are some nice numbers!

How about you keep on track with the thread here buddy. When the hell did I say I was big and bad for beating him? And when the hell did I say I could beat a supercharged tib?

Thanks for the troll post though.

Umm, I think he had darker hair...although it was dark out, so I couldnt see in his car very well. He kinda looked a little hispanic if anything.

And yeah, he'll probably tell his buddies he smoke an SS, oh well.

I NEVER said, that you said, that you could beat a S/C tib, what I said was that if you'd race a S/C tib, that things might come out a little differently.

Rippmods makes a supercharger kit for us, here are the specs for stage 1

335HP(290whp****) 4-5psi Manual transmission

334HP(281whp****) 5-6psi Auto transmission

these results are with headers as well......stock we put down 135-145 whp depending on dyno..............

we have various guys running M-62's which do not make that great of power compared to other sytems like the RIPP

but the Delta has very good flowing heads along with more displacement..........it is a stout engine.....My NA car will rip apart a Stock SS pretty good...as well the Tiburon comes equiped with much better gearing then the Cobalt as well

and on another note NextGeneration has a turbo kit that is 300 whp @ 5psi on a completely stock car.........our compresion is 10-1

You also implied that I might feel big and bad for beating a kid that I did not pick a fight with. Do you know me? I don't think so. Why the hell would you come in here just to say this and not even have anything nice to say like..."Hey man, good kill."

Why is everyone such an ass on the internet anymore.

Quit getting your panties in an uproar.

All's im saying is, why would I give props to a guy who raced a Supercharged SS Cobalt vs an UNsupercharged GT Tib? I'd say, "good kill" if you had raced and won a S/C tib.

I understand it's no big deal to kill a stock V6 tib. Which is why I didn't make a big deal out of it. Hell, I would'nt have made a post out of it at all if the kid wasn't such as asshat.

My problem with what you said is that you could have easily just not said anything at all. I'm no fool, I know what the s/c tibs can do. That **** is posted all over these forums, but I'm tired of catching **** all the time because someone wants to get their shots in. Understand where I'm coming from now?
