You better look for youself to see if he is stock. If he is wax his ass thoses cars are light and its olmost hard to find one that is stock.

Back in the day I had a red 1991 Mustang GT and my buddy had the same car but in black. Mine also had the 2.73 and his had the 3.08 gears bothe were five speeds.

Both cars would run mid 14's on a very good day with perfect conditions.

I call BS... no such thing as a stock 5.0 Foxbody

Anyway, there are a million variables when it comes to Foxbody's because of the different configurations and the age:

Well maintaned vs. Not
Speed Density vs. MAF
5-speed vs. Auto
GT vs. LX
Hatch vs. Notch
2.73 vs. 3.08

...The list goes on...

And of course there's the other possible variable:

Stock vs. Stock-looking w/ ported heads, intakes, cam, gears

Personally, given that the guy sounds not-that-knowledgeable having a stock 5.0 and talking about twin-turbos, I'm guessing it's probably a rundown stock, or close-to-it car. In which case, you will probably win.

However, like I said, there are a million variables. A couple stock Fox 5.0's went high 13's, stock... which isn't to say that this car will be within even a second-and-a-half of that, but it just goes to show that they may not ALL be quite as easy to beat as some might think. Also, we're all still assuming that this car is actually stock. Even just a set of 3.73 gears that the current owner doesn't even know about could go a long way in making this a closer race than expected.

Again, I think you'll probably take him because it sounds pretty likely that it's a rundown stock 5.0, but you never know, so don't count your chickens before they hatch

I know of a few stock Foxbodies.

My friend who had the 1991 back then just picked up a rare as hell 1992 LX.

It is a ex Michigain State Patrol car, one of 15 built for them in 1992. It is also the only one ordered with the Blue interior not black and is out of VIN sequence with the other 14 cars. All of the Dog Tags are still intact and the car only needed a new cat-back due to rusted mufflers. It has under 100,000 miles also which is rare for a SSP vehicle.

be weary of the stock claim. If he is stock and you can drive, you will take his money...if he is modded he could easily take yours with very little money in the car. Foxes are CHEAP to modify.

You are wrong. Very few aftermarket v8 tt setups are sequential. Most are Parallel and still have some lag but the V8's displacement makes up for that.

V8's ususally use one or two turbos based on simplicity alone. A single turbo has the nice draw back of making a dual exhaust single but has one set of lines & hoses to run. Most V8 setups incorporate two turbos which also leads to twice as many lines and hoses.

The simple fact that it's a V8 has nothing to do with lag, thats 80% based on the size of the turbo used. Even the APS system on the GTO has a little lag.

Sequential turbos can be used on any engine but the expense and hassle ususally change a persons mind.

There was an article in one of the Mustang mags a while ago about a guy who built a 9-second Fox for $5k total investment... including the car. Not that just anyone could build a junkyard turbo 5.0 like that, but it gives you an idea.

Personally, I picked up a straight no-option '93 Notch 4-cylinder for $500, an 8.8 rear for $75, and if going 12's for cheap was my goal, I'd just throw a $300-500 302 in there w/ home-ported stock heads/intakes and a cam, and run 12's/13's for 2-3 grand TOTAL. But, that's not my goal with this car, so I'll keep the 2.3L for now .

Ive seen a bunch of that era 5.0 HOs run @ Byron IL and route 41 IL which is a sleight incline track and they run in the mid 15's mostly stock. That being said ive seen modded street 5.0 stangs that run 12's all day. If you want a comparison vehical A 2002 blazer would run 15.88 - 16.0 stock on the same track.
