Matters on what mods you're talking about. Last time I checked most balts (definitely some fast ones on here!) on this site aren't in the 12's like Joe's 350z (Majority of 350zs aren't this quick). Every car has potential if you throw money at it..... Bang for your buck performance goes to the Balt hands down though.

I wouldn't say they have no mod potential. A set of 4.08 gears is all a HR Z needs to run 12's. Throw 4.08's, intake, exhaust, tune and a bottle on it and it runs 11's. That is about 2-3K worth of mods so it really isn't bad. Boosting one can be pricey if you are buying a premade kit.

Biased statement there with the fanboi comment, but have you actually driven a Z? The car is amazingly fun to drive around even though it's not fast. A stock slow cobalt is neither fast nor fun to drive. As far as the interior, it's nice and solid and doesn't have any rattles after 5 years which is more than I can say for the Cobalt, but I still prefer my LSJ Recaros to any Z seats

My car has only test pipes and a bottle, assuming you pay full price for both and a tune you have maybe $1500 into the setup. My out of pocket for those parts is $900 being that I can tune the car myself. Aside from a well bolted/tuned LNF there isn't any other way to get a cobalt into a 115 trap range for that money. Any factory boosted car has better potential than an N/A car for mod results. Although, the Z as is (one N/A mod) runs very low 13's on motor so that would stop most cobalts right there until they start adding a lot of power.

Either way, i'm not here to argue a Z over the Cobalt, because you can't really compare them, totally different class of cars. A Japanese true sports car vs. American sport compact racer. The fact that I bought another Cobalt should say something of my opinion.

Lol, my car's slow, I don't roll race if I can avoid it.

I passed by one of the local spots on friday and ran into some friends, I hadn't even gotten out of the car when they asked me to run a new 5.0 with mods. I told them the bottle was empty, but I would do a dig for fun. They replied that only a 40 or higher, no tires. I said I got street tires too, do a dig for fun since you have 100hp+ on me. They said no traction, I said sounds like a driver problem... It didn't go over well .

Sad part was I ran him from his 40 and he still only pulled 2-3 cars on me. I would have smacked him on bottle. Last time I go out there with the bottle empty I guess

Lol that's hilarious. I built the 300 with roll racing in mind it's a beast up top but I got slicks too for when I wasn't to dig. It just wheel hops on street tires

I fully intend to setup my Cobalt as a 40 roll monster, which is nice because I can hook that up with a normal tire. It's so hard to find a dig now and when you are talking 300hp cars, there's no reason for rolls. I have no interest in running to 140mph in a car that takes a long time to get there, and running from 40-100 isn't a race
