Talon Vs. SS/SC
Talon's are gay they can only be fast with money like any car for that reason but hey if it does beat you just laugh at him when it breaks down one day and your car is still running
Heh I raced a Stage 2+ SS/SC and I have a 1g AWD. Small 16g running 25psi, punishment fmic, 3" turboback, dejon intake, tre stage 2 trans, act 2600 clutch. 1000cc injectors, dual 255 walbros. Runnin e85.
I have like $4k in it so far but it wasn't a fair fight. I'm looking to get rid of the 03 Cavy so I can pick up an SS/TC.
The factory housing on a 1g is a td04 housing. The 2G's came with a tiny T25. The Fp68hta is what you are referring to, close to a 50 trim at 47lbs/min, which is good bit more than a big 16G or 18G. Fuel cut is because of people being stupid. I'm using Jackal with an Ostrich cable running speed density with a 3 bar gm map. 40psi isn't going to happen efficiently out of that forced performance turbo. Unless you want IAT's out the wazoo
And for the broken down DSM's, don't bundle us all together. When you do stuff right on a 20 year old car, they are as reliable as the owner makes them.

Yeah DSMs can get nasty. Ask if he has link. IIRC you can over ride the stock MAF and keep it from cutting out at high boost. Forded Performance actually just came out with a new turbo that keeps the factory tdo5 housing and can push 40+psi efficently.

Crank walk is not even that common of a problem. They're just the only car really known for it. 90-91 6-bolt engine wasn't known for it what-so-ever. 92-99 it when they had the occassional problem with crank walk. DSM's are actually good for alot of cheap power. The motors are bullet proof and unless your looking to push 600+ hp there isn't even a need to sleeve them. These cars can easliy break 300hp with less then $2k. You just gotta know what mods are worth it and what aren't. As for the reliability comment. Like stated before if you do things properly and maintenece them you've got relatively no problems, just like any other car. When I bought my '91 AWD Tsi I ended up pulling the motor out over the winter, fixing all the wires, fixing all the non-functioning sensors due to a terrible hack job by the previous owners and when I pulled it out in the spring I didn't have any problems with it for the longest time. I'd own another DSM in a heartbeat. Not to mention they were offered in AWD
but do be careful... if modded correctly they are fast as hell... a buddy of mine who sold me a 20G turbo had a 97 tsi with 409HP and it ran high 11's scary fast... mind you he invested about 40k in it... and he was upgrading to an even bigger turbo nicknamed the Frankenstein 1 ... i don't even know how fast it is now... his plates said V8killer haha
DSM's have amazing power potential.. but the tranny's in them blow goats...second gear synchros always blew out of them... most guys upgrade to a supra tranny... my buddy's 11 second DSM went through a few transmissions.
awesome car but if you don't take care of them they break and cost alot of money... just be careful.. but i think you should have him.
i owned a 91 eagle talon with a 16g and bigger injectors... no other mods.. it was quick but my 1G stock ran 0-60 around 6.7 seconds... not as fast as one would think... unless you are racing in the rain you should have him if you can drive...

No way he is. If he is its for a split second then it breaks up. The stock fuel system is good for 16psi give or take. As well as the stock MAF. And thats on the stock turbo. They make so many different styles of 16g's though as well. I would almost without a doubt say with that set-up its not gonna run a full pull without breaking up. Now if he had the right fueling and tune in it. Then hell yeah he could make well over that easily.
Pat Cheng look him up was one of the 10th fastest DSM's in Canada around 2000/2001 year ... it ran 11.9 .. talk to buscher racing... DSM's are fast as hell and the engines are bulletproof but the tranny's suck. i used to be fairly involved in the DSM scene back in the day.

check out their 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times for the TSI in any year they barely break 6.5 seconds and 15 in the 1/4. monster potential but not that great stock. and this link has been cross referenced with many other sites... relatively the same numbers... now you tell me where the miss info is?

these threads have got to ******* go away. race the bitch and see what happens instead of wrenching your panties in a ball and leaking the bed at night pondering if you will win or loose.
