I think it will be fairly close. The longer the race the better the Tibby will do.

The old Durango was much smaller than the current ones, only weighed about 4,400 lbs, and had 235 hp but a lot of torque. Neither is fast.

I got to call bs on the 161 to the wheels. My Eclipse gt has taken out several manual V6 tibbys and its pretty much a stock 5 spd.

Im giving it to the tibby
mid 15s at 88mph or so
compared to
mid 16s at 84mph or so.

Though it looks like the durango might hang in there better at speed.

Ive ran my buddies 98 Acura RL in my Cobalt sport auto. Same result. I pull him by a car or 2 then he will slowly begin to edge up on me at higher speeds. His car weighs a lot more. But it does have 60hp and probably around 50ft lbs tq on me. Now with the cold air and jet he no longer edges up on me. But Tq can do wonderful things! Ive run civic that weigh less and have the same hp (B18B1's and B18C1's). I will run side by side with them till higher speeds (damn auto... )

actually the 4.7 is 235hp and 295tq compared to 172hp and 181tq.

Um are you sure your friend should race the dodge? I mean does he value the transmission I was just working on my girl thats a friends durango last night...heavy yes but that 4.7l has some nutz. Hell my 4000lb I4 escape 4x4 almost took out a base 2nd gen eclipse with a huge fart can yesterday

 

I dont know if he has thought about the transmission.

I think he is about to get rid of it.

my tiburon wasnt stock. but when it was it will still pull a SUV!!! come on now that thing weighs a **** load. but my tiburon wouldnt be touched by any car on this site. sorry not tryin to talk **** but it was extensivly modified

Not that I like tiburons because they are typically driven by idiots... but saying its still a hyundai is the same as saying its still a cobalt. Its not like we have off worldly designed and executed cars.

 

the durangos are fast up to like 45 miles per hour then one it shifts into third around 45-50 it slows down a shitload and takes another 4 seconds to get to 60. The guy in the video did 0-60 in 12 seconds. The tibby will no doubt win.

 

This thread got bumped, it reminded me. The friend with the tibby, isnt driving down anymore, he is flying. So its gonna be along time before I can post who won.

That's a very stupid statement. Unless your Tibby had over 600whp there was at LEAST 1 Cobalt on this site that would have beat it. Not to mention when that LS2 Balt gets running.
