Okay, I think this is total BS. I’m calling BS on this guy and this ‘kill’.

So here we go. I’m going home from school, and I decide to take the long way home. I go down a straight road and take one or two turns. So I take that first turn, and go down this long road, known as Cicero Avenue. I go through two or three lights, and at another light, I see a black 240SX with a exhaust and chrome rims. So, I say ‘what the hell’ might as well. So he is turning, and I decide to as well. I pull in the next lane and ‘nose to nose’ with him. I look over, point, and he nods. We wait a few seconds, then I hear his exhaust screams, so I WOT as well. I pulled HARD on him, give a car or two. Then we stopped, and got into traffic. I decided to follow him a bit, as I didn’t think that was the correct outcome, I was expecting to get my ass handed to me.

So I follow him, and get next to him a few lights down, and gesture to him as we come to the light. His friend is laughing really hard, I don’t know why though. There is a car in between us, and evidently it is one of his friends. They talk, point over to me, and the guy nods. Then, the light turns green, I hear his tires chirp after he was revving his engine, I thought to be taunting me. Anyway, I WOT as well, spin a little, put catch and go, pulling about 2-3 cars on him. So I’m like BS again. We start going, but there are cars ahead of him and me, so we talk on the go. I ask him, “Hey man you guys should be beating my ass all day!” I slow down a bit, and then ask, “What mods do you have?” he says something, but all I heard was “Exhaust and Turbo” and I say, “Hell, you should be beating me all day. I’m auto and I’m stock.” then I look into his car to see a racing steering wheel. He then nods and him and his friend give a bit of a smile. So, they turn off, and I turn around and go home. I’ve been bothered by this ever since I got him. There are a few things that could have happened:

1. He could be Bsing about the turbo and only have an exhaust and a few other bolt-ons.

2. He could have been playing with me/mocking me because I’m an LS cobalt or for another reason. I doubt I would beat a 240SX that bad, if he was ‘turboed’

3. I could (doubtful) have actually just beat him. I called and asked my friend, who knows about imports, and he said KA24 240SX’s are very slow and heavy, and have like no torque, and even with an exhaust, and intake I would probably still win as I have a lot more torque.

What do you guys think?

Pretty much assume he had an RB20DET swap, its pretty common in 240 circles and my friend has one out here with the auto, don't feel bad he had to have it modded because me and my friend just raced Cobalt_Supercharged SS/SC yesterday and it would have been closer, like neck and neck if you were racing a stock RB20DET/Auto swap, in a SS/SC of course

Thats a toughie man. I agree somethings up, maybe they wanted you to say lets go for cash and then it would have been over.

anything thats turboed should not be losing to a stock 2.2 auto, that is all

I doubt it. He was around my age, id oubt he has the money for it. Besides, SR20 swaps are more common that RB swaps. I'm in an Auto 2.2

I agree, but what do you think? Was he turbo'ed and just playing with me? Or lying?

Out here I get more RB guys than wasting the time on a SR, and my friend Jeremy with 240 was only a year older than you when he got his swap. I got my RB26DETT R32 clip and I am only 22, I guess I get irked over age since I was working on the 1946 Dodge I bought at 14 yrs old with the MY money I saved from every birthday/christmas/mowing lawns since I was 12 and my pet peeve was the old men at the shows saying I didn't know anything/own the car/worked for it/worked on it all because I was 15 and they were retired.

I just don't see age as an excuse not to get what you want

i would say he was full of it. even if he only gave it a little throttle you can hear the turbo start to spool or even the blow off valve going. there is a small chance he had a turbo without a bov but thats a very minimal chance.

I'd say you were running a stock ka24e 240sx with its ground pounding 145 horses. a "stock" sr20det puts out over 200hp. rb2xdet(t) lay out some serious power for the s13 chassis.

My friend has a '93 240sx: rated at 155hp 156trq. When my 2.4SS was stock and he had intake and exhaust we were side by side all the time. Then he went KA-T. He bought a turbo kit which included a T3/T4 hybrid. He dynoed his car 2 weeks ago at only 5psi which he safely keeps it for now, and got 175whp 220wtrq. He walks away from me easily now. I don't doubt the guy you raced was turbo.

Come to think of it, I didn't hear any BOV....

Saw the guy again today, he nodded to me and I followed him again, but he turned and I didn't notice it, so I lost him....I'll just ask him.

im 22 and had a turboed 328i Convertible (97) BMW when I was 16....that i bought myself.

he probably had his turbo in the back seat still in the box next to his exhaust...
