ok, its late and im driving home from work. i pass this person up so i can do 65 cause i wanna get home right? i've worked, im tired, and all of that crap. well the person wasnt even doing a steady 54, which really pisses me off. its like they havent discovered the cruise control yet and the constant speed up and slow down really sets my nerves off. so i pass them up and set my cruise to 65. about 3 mins later, i see their headlights bearing down on me and they're gonna pass me up after driving like someone's grandma or some little twerp in drivers ed. so, naturally i say hell no, and punch it. i've got a stock auto 2.4 and figured i had it in the bag until i see them slowly creep up along side me and pass me! wanna know what they were driving? a damn olds alero. everything seems like its in slow motion since we're evidentally matched and they slowly pull out ahead and get in front of me in the right lane while i switched lanes. i think i was starting to get an edge after awhile but everything changed when we got behind a truck. they hit their breaks and i never stopped so they tried but couldnt catch up. needless to say, i was not very happy. im having serious doubts if the car is even worth the effort of buying performance parts.

Dude those old Alero's are fast, but I know your pain. and idk, maybe the guy did have a good run on me b4 i started. all i know is that at the time, it made me wanna go out and trade my car in for something else. i checked the stats and aleros had 2 engines, either a 2.2 pushin 140 or a 3.4 pushin 170 with auto or manual. so idk what to do about it

 

My mistake. I thought they could get fast. I see intense and stuff making stuff for them. i thought they ahd 200+ hp. Evidentally they're slower.

and BTW a 170hp car at 3100 lbs is not by any means "fast." but it would explain why you guys were so close. i figured they were heavier than that

I had a 2001 Olds Alero 3.4 as my previous car. It was not as slow as you would think really. I had a 2.5" SLP Cat-back and it did okay. Not nowhere near as fast as my Cobalt ss sc I have now but it was a great car. I'm not saying they are super quick but they are mid 15 second cars and 2.4 L Cobalts are upper 15 second cars right?

 

Those v-6 engines are real torqey, My Cutlass Supreme had a 3100 SFI with only 160hp but 200ft lbs

 

What the hell I can take Alero 3400's in my 2001 Z24 with it's only mod being a K&N drop-in. They are 16 second cars nowhere close to a mid 15 second 1/4.
