*UPDATED W/ PICS* Painting the stock SS/SC rims
*UPDATED W/ PICS* Painting the stock SS/SC rims
Well, I've spent about 5 hours wet sanding these damn things in a 40 degree garage. Thankfully, I had the bright idea to use warm water which helped out! I had to repair 2 of the wheels that were "curb checked."
Started out with 500 grit, than finished with 1000 grit. Used 220 grit on the rough parts that were touched by the curb and filled them in with metal epoxy. Hopefully, it will sand down easily. While cleaning them, I also noticed, as have others, that the inside of the rims have finger prints on them...
Plan on painting them tomorrow. Going with a metallic black and factory orange on the edges....I will have some pics up soon!

Here's the pics everyone has been waiting for!
First a few of one of the repaired rims using Loctite Metal Epoxy. Put it on, wiped it smooth as possible and wet sanded smooth with 1000 grit.

Next, here's the paint I used...

While taping off, I found some of those fingerprints on the inside of the rims.

Painting the inside orange....

along with the bowtie on the center caps...still haven't put them on yet...trying to figure out what to do with them...leave them silver, or paint black? Paint the whole thing black? Its a paint to tape off for the bowtie and paint black, but would prob look awesome! Any suggestions?

and really cold!

Time for the metallic black....

Finished clearcoat...check out that metallic black!

On car from a distance...

and a few up close that show off the clearcoat!

I edited the centercaps pic above...still trying to determine what to do with them...
awesome job...I just got my rims powdercoated. I was considering paint, but me + paint = orange peel...that and chipping is my pet peeve.
I think you did a great job on the rims. Very clean and profesional.

I bought a new gravity feed spray gun at Harbor Freight for $16! I love that place!
EDIT: Make sure you also buy an in-line Water/oil separator...keeps all the nasty **** from getting in the gun and messing up your paint job!

Looks awesome. The rolling pics are sweet as hell. Make sure you get a good respirator next time though. My buddy and I painted his old MR2 in the garage with good respirators and I still ended up high as a kite by the time we were done!
Yeah, I loved the rollin' pics as well! No more painting for me without a respirator!
