235/40 Pilot Super Sports on stock SS/SC rim

I've been running Hankook Ventus v12's 235/40/r18 on my stock SS/SC rims for a few years now and it's finally time for new ones (big sidewall bubble, had to swap the rear set for my winter rims till the new ones came).

I ordered and recieved some Michelin Pilot Super Sports in the same size and holy cow they look big, much wider comparing them to the V12's that are installed vs the PSS's rubber only. Are these going to rub?? Or am I just crazy and they're going to be the same size once installed on the rim?

I searched for close to 45 mins before making a new post, I know 235/40/r18 works on the stock SS rim but why do these look huge compared to what I already have?

Some tires run wider even though they are listed as the same size. For example, my Conti DW's at 235/40 are on the narrow side for a 235, while I believe your Pilot's and others like Direzza Zii's run a bit wide.

Also, squeezing an 8" tire onto a 7" rim can easily make it look skinnier than it really is.

I ran 235/40/18 KDWs on my LSJ stocks, they rubbed slightly at full lock, lowered on sportlines. Some tires are wider than others for the same measured size. Can be almost an inch different depending on where the manufacturer measures the "235"

Yeah they're close to 1" wider at the tread area. I'm not lowered, so hopefully they won't rub. I'm getting them put on tomorrow, I'll post results!
