235s on ss/sc wheels?

Hey all in need of some new tires soonish. While I would love to hrab a set of tc wheels to clear the eventual brembos, its just not feasiblenow. I know sc wheels will clear so I'll keep em for now. I know 225s are ok, but what about 235? I know its been discussed before but I fail at the search. Thanks guys.

Mike.

Sc won't clear brembos with a 5mm spacer I believe.

As for tires I've seen a few running 245 and 255s. I think you will be fine.

I believe 5mm does make them clear

235s are fine you may rub just a tickle when turning sharp but you should be fine especially if on spacers

Whether they look good on 235s is another story

Don't do it, they are much wider than the wheel itself and looks dumb.

I wouldn't put 235 on a 7 inch wheel. 7.5, like TC, sure.

I had 245s on my stock 17s (7inches wide)and thought it looked good. Now I have 235 and it's lowered and rubs in the right fender well when someone sits in the passenger.

I ran 235s on my stock sc wheels and they rolled more in the corners. I went back to 225

The wheel's only 7" wide. You can run 225 but they'll puff out past the edge of the wheel. I have 225's now, 215's ride and handle better.

I ran 235/40 KDW's on my LSJ stocks and loved it, cleared fine with the car lowered on sportlines and looked great on the stock wheels.

I've got 225s on my stock lsj's and they are flush with the outside of the wheel not past it.

Thanks for all the replies all. Guess I got some decision making to do. I don't want it to look bad and I'm definitely more after the handling part. Kinda sounds like 225 or 215 would be ideal for handling, unless I do grab some tc wheels.

Hhhmmm maybe the sc wheels for winter and some tc rims for summer with the 235s. Looking at some bfg comp2 tires or kdw. If I keep the sc only I think I'll go 225 Max and grab some good all seasons. Most likely continental dws. Had em on my suby and loved em. Best tire I've had.

Joe, you happen to have any pics? You say it handled better? Ps end plate on your way soon.

I ran 225's on my IRL wheels. looked great to me.

i also have them on my new 7" wide wheels. if anything they look skinnier. also depends on the tire Manufacturer

I don't think i'd still have any pics of the tires, that was about 7 years ago when I had that setup on that car. Handling was not obviously different from the 225s, I ran 225/40 KDWs until they wore down and went to 235/40 because I wanted a little beefier looking tires. There's not enough difference in handling to be noticed unless you are actively road racing or maybe autocrossing the car. In which case those aren't the right tires anyway Handled great though, great all-around tire, best thing I liked about them was they worked in the rain, which is a big deal for me since it rains every day all summer here.

You need a minimum of 6-7mm to clear brembos on ss sc wheels, don't let any idiot tell you otherwise. They rub hard on the caliper on 5mm seen first hand.

235 on 7" rim, just stick to 225, 215 is stock. Unless you like balloon rides?
