255/40/17s on SS/TC -- Let's do this!
Just wanted to share my new front wheel and tire setup I'm using for the upcoming Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack 1/2 Mile event.
I know people have done 255/40/17s before, but this is to give an idea of true fitment. Tires are 255/40/17 Nitto NT05s. Wheels are 17x8 Focal Flying V's in +40, 5x110 bolt circle. They fit and clear Brembos without a spacer, but you have to grind the raised letters off the back of the spokes to do so -- yeah, it's literally that tight. Enough talk... pics:
Once these are used up, I'm probably going to run some 245/45/17 slicks on these wheels. The 255/40/17s are a nice fit though and they are the same diameter as the stock 225/40/18s.

Any difference between flying V and high V?
Are your rims these ones?

How much grinding did you have to do? I want to run some 17 inch rims and 245/45/17 slicks on them that clear Brembos, myself.

Don't rims bow a little in corners? Like, even normal everyday driving, the flex. So, your rims and brembos will 100% hit without a doubt. Sanding the letters off isn't enough lol. But, I don't know too much on the wheel subject to give indisputable advice. I.e. will they hit enough to really matter, or will they **** something up because +40 is too close.. lol meh, who knows -\••/-
