Calling All Offset Experts

I've decided to go with a set of 18x9.5 Forgestars. I know people have successfully ran this wide of wheel before, but before I shuck out $1400 on rims I want to make damn sure I get the offset right. Those of you who have ran wide wheels please chime in on the best offset.

What look are you going for? Flush? Poke

I believe +35 - +30 is flush.. Anything lower you will start to poke.

I'd like them to be as flush as possible without getting too close to the struts because I'll be running a 285/30 tire.

I'm thinking the textured black finish? I'm not 100% on that part yet (car's black btw). I'll have to try to find some pictures of the various finishes on black cars.
Honestly, for $340 a wheel in any offset and pcd, I don't know whey anybody would switch the hubs out. They make a lot of nice looking wheels.

285? wow.

CF5? CF10? F14? You might have mentioned it already but I can't remember.

I like the 5's, but the F14's are my favorite Forgestars. The CCW 505a is my favorite all time though.

Same ones I'm planning to get, 18x9 with 255/30. I'm also looking for the right offset to be flush

There is a guy that has 18x8.5 on a red sedan. he said he had +35 on the front and +55 on the rear with 255 tire. Looked right on. but idk about his offset he posted seemed fishy.

285 seems very wide for a Cobalt.

he has to clear the brembos so that offset needed to be lower(the way the spokes curve and width of rim), the rear offset seems high but the increase of an inch in width over stock rims could be how he got his offset

could be running a spacer of different size too

this forum has a tire/wheel calculator as well

To get equally flush fitment on the cobalt, staggered fitment is a MUST. That's why a lot of aggressive fitments fail on the cobalt. So, especially if you plan on running that wide of tire, plan on a staggered fitment. On the front 285 is doable, you would need about a +30-33 offset to clear the struts. On the rear I would never go wider than 255. There is just no reason for it. But for a good wide tire/wheel to be even close to flush it needs to be near 47-50. Just remember it's easier to make up the offset with a spacer than risk poking too much.

My plan, (I am after the wide tire fitment as well) Run a 17x9 +38 with a 255/40/17 all the way around. Then have a set of 275/40/17 Drag radials (Or even same type of tire just wider) to swap on the front for the weekend/track. And then space it out with a 5M spacer to clear the strut. In all My research and testing, this IMO would be the best way to have a rotatable, wide tire fitment.

What size tires and offsets? But that is not rotatable nor is that a wide tire fitment.

Well then you missed the point of the thread and my post. We are talking about running a fat ass tire and getting some damn traction. I bet you murder those poor lil 215's! It looks great don't get me wrong, but I am going for some nasty traction and so is the O.P. I am tired of racing EVO's that I am much faster than from a roll, but getting shat on in a dig.

You must have misunderstood with 18x9.5 with 285s is going to ask for some serious fender issues. Idk about you but I have no problems getting traction. S Drives do a pretty good job. If hes looking for some serious traction get some slicks LOL.

the reason you might get shitted on is because your racing a AWD car from a dig lol, not saying your automatically gonna lose but yeah lol.
