Choices - Wide or Lightweight

I will be picking up my SS sedan soon and am shopping for wheels and tires. I've got it narrowed down to two wheels:

Enkei PF01 (surprise, surprise)
18x8 - 18 lbs

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2
18x9 - 24 lbs

Tires
Either BFG Rivals or Michelin PSS (can't decide between wear and grip)
245/40/18

I like the Enkeis for their light weight (and their looks). I like the TD's for their width (and they're different). I just don't know what's going to be more beneficial. 6 pounds per corner is a lot, but 8" is on the lower end of acceptable width for a 245 tire. The 9" would offer more stability, but would that be worth the weight penalty?

Appreciate any input here.

I would drop to a 35 profile if you want 245's. They will be closer to stock diameter and less likely to rub.

id go with the enkei's and some nitto nt05's.

Im going to be shopping for wheels one of these days and im looking at either the enkei's or the stock LNF rims in black, white or copper (my cars black).

If I went 245/35, that would make my choice really easy since Rivals don't come in that size. I like the slightly taller sidewall, though. I am essentially trying to copy Powell's setup, but going 9" wide tops instead of his 9.5's.

Anyone have any input on my original question? Go 18x8 (18 lbs) for their lightweight or go 18x9 (24 lbs) for the stability on turn in? I will be auto crossing this car a few times a year.

If you are going to run 245's regardless, go with the 18x8. And 245/40 won't rub on stock/powell springs.

If you are auto crossing you want the widest wheels possible for your class. Also the widest tires possible.

Widest wheel yes .... Widest tires im not sooo sure i agree.

I run a 225/40 on my 18x8 (each tire is a bit different) but i do so for the sole purpose that there is less play in the sidewall.

Too fat and thick of a tire in autox and ur chasing down the roll over.

I could have went went with a 235/40 with my nt05 becuz they seem to run a bit smaller than the dz1's i had previous.

Thanks for the input. Definitely leaning towards the 9" TD's...if I get new wheels at all. I picked up the car this weekend and I really like the stock wheels. It's making it hard to justify spending the $1000+. Stock size ZII or RE-11a wouldn't give me the look I am after, but, functionally, they would get the job done.

18x9 Pro Race 1.2 with 255/35/18 tires would be pretty bad ass, though. 18x9 RPF1's would be even better, but don't think I want to go through re-drilling hubs. Decisions decisions. I'm flip flopping like my wife! I need to get this figured out.

You can run the Pro Race in 17x9 +45 with a 15mm spacer up front and extended studs.

They do weigh more but are race proven wheels.

You can have a wide tire and not have tons of roll. Just need to adjust the series accordingly...
