Drag strip question
Hey guys, I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a tire/wheel set up for the mods I have in my sig, and how you guys would suggest launching at the track, I usually just ride the clutch a bit but I really don't wanna beat my clutch to death anymore than I need too, but I will be upgrading to a KY clutch, still getting used to the whole FWD thing at the drag strip. Lololol

If you want something that can be street driven, then drag radials are next best. If you will never get them wet the Hoosier grooved tires are probably the stickiest. If you need to have them tolerate a rain shower or any wet road then nitto 555r's are good for that. They also last longer but don't have quite as much grip as the Hoosiers. I have them and if you lived closer would love to sell them too you since I now have slicks.

Always wanted to do slicks, but would I need to upgrade anything as far as drivetrain goes? I know LNFs come with pretty stout axles, more worried about the tranny.

Street tires- you can get some sticky r compound tires like nitto nt-01 or toyo prizes r888's just know that you won't get 8,000 miles out of them before you will hydroplane in the rain. Plus they are expensive. At the track you need to do a 2nd gear burnout using the ebrake, and dumping the clutch, to be able to get enough wheel spin to heat the tires, depending on the tire. Some hp tires don't need as much heat to grip so you will have to get there optimum tire operating temp setup. If you have good tires/slicks, leave at 4500 or so slipping the clutch (4500-5000 so if you hook it won't bog). Slip the clutch some before fully releasing it. It also helps your drivetrain to slightly load it on the line using the ebrake.
Get out of 1st gear asap-about 5200, so you can get to full boost, as most tunes limit 1st gear to 15psi. Stock turbo makes peak power about 5600 so don't rev past 6,000. Use nls if your certain your trans is in good shape, but don't abuse it a bunch, on stock turbo, as it saves significant time getting back to boost.

I had some NT05s before and they were just trash, but yeah I've always heard it was good to pre load using the ebrake, I just gotta grow a pair so I can actually launch it, because I ran 8.8 in an 1/8th but with a terrible 60 foot, I rode the clutch and was still spinning in first and second.
