Alright guys I have My stock tc rims I'm looking to get a good tire that will have enough grip to withstand my power supporting mods.. I have 309whp and 330wtq.. also I'm not looking to spend over $200 a tire.. and I'd like to get at lease 20,000 miles out of them.. does anyone have any suggestions????

Greatly appreciated, Dustin

WE currently have closeout pricing on BFG GForce Rival in 225/40R18 would be worth looking at !

Jacque8080 04-09-2015 02:58 PM

Doc, I buy tires from TireRack and also have been a long time CSS.net member. Do you want the order numbers?

Dustin,

Are you looking for sticky tires? I have 245/40R18 in my LSJ car. They are treadwear 700 and last hella miles. But I am old and like conservative tires now.

Dustin24 04-10-2015 07:47 AM

I'm looking for a sticky tire that will last me a while also

ae_xiong 04-10-2015 01:44 PM

Dunlop Direzza star specs. I have them on currently n in terms of grip they definitely don't disappoint. Treadwear is 200 only but they've lasted me 14,000 miles so far(don't do burn outs) n are finally starting to lose their grip. Only draw backs are it costs a little over 200 per tire and they're pretty noisy. Ur call.

I really like the Toyo Eclipse tires Les Schwab sells. They also have a 70,000 mile warranty.

Dustin24 04-10-2015 05:44 PM

Okay thanks guys!!

colodude18 04-10-2015 06:05 PM

Realistically, you're not going to get 20,000 miles out of a 200 tread wear tire on a Cobalt SS/TC unless you drive like a granny. A tire is either sticky or durable. They are on opposite sides of the scale. Also: will you be using these tires in VT winter? If so all seasons are your only option. Summer tires don't like winter. (go figure)

Dustin24 04-10-2015 06:18 PM

I have separate winter tires for my car that eventually are going to be going on some different wheels to rotate onto my car in the winter months

Devin86 04-10-2015 06:25 PM

Dunlop 102's they hold well rain or shine. On hot days they grip really good I got almost a year on mine. Like over 15k miles 460 tread wear still look great. Lots of long drives and drag strip trips. Really u have to say do I want race tires that will wear fast cost more and grip more. Or summer tires that will grip a littlr less and last longer for cheaper. you just have to driver mod the summer tires get the grip and WOT. I went threw this last year picking tires.

Dustin24 04-10-2015 08:14 PM

Yeah iv been having troubles deciding

Blue_Balt 04-14-2015 08:41 AM

I have some Nitto Neo Gens on my car and they are pretty great for an all season tire. I have a ZZP PCM on the car and the tires can handle WOT without spinning in the now warmer conditions.

Another vote for Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. Excellent grip on dry and wet roads.

Good suggestions folks !

Snail_SS 07-06-2015 09:44 PM

I'm getting Pilot super sports 300tread I think or mabe BFG sport comp 2's with 320 tread. Those are like 1st in there class. Idk how aggressive you want but I like the grippest longest lasting tires for the spirited days haha there around 700ish a set on tirerack

you wont be disappointed with pilot super sports, you can comfortably run 235 because the seem to be a tad narrow in 225. i don't know how much power/ torque i am making but they put power down with my 7163(granted i am on a boost ramp and turned the midrange down a tad) they are absolutely amazing in wet weather right up to about 40%tread.

Snail_SS 07-06-2015 10:13 PM

Lol im sure you put down alot more than me. how many miles do you have on them?

Dunlop direzza zII. I get great traction. I squeal a bit in 1st and 2nd but dont spin. Once these are done ill definitely be picking up another set.

Snail_SS 07-06-2015 10:31 PM

Ohh also want a tire that will do good on cornering. Has anyone tried the nitto motivos?

These are great for handling too. Look em up on tire rack. Staged has a set and he loves them too

YelloEye 07-06-2015 11:04 PM

I just picked up a set of Cooper RS3-S tires in 235/40R18 for DD and AutoX duty. 300 treadwear and a killer tire for the price from Discount Tire. No idea how many miles I'll get but they were cheap enough, something like $130/ea.

Snail_SS 07-06-2015 11:06 PM

Yup i saw them at tirerack they look like a good set of tires. I just dont know about that 200 wear rating

Ive got about 6k on this set so far and the tread still looks the same as the day i put them on. Tirerack had a sale when i bought them so i got them for like $400 shipped after the rebate. Hard price to beat for a $200 tire.

I was thinking 245?? since I just go around corners for fun, I usally just race on the highway or 1/4!! But everything I read says they are the summer tires to have!! Haha
