nto5s are boss, little loud but what cheap stickyish tire isnt, i went 225 tho because im anti balloon, and pro steering response

Got mine mounted up last week. 225/40 on an 18x8

ae_xiong 05-08-2014 01:15 AM

Anyone know if the nt05 are better than the Dunlop direazza star spec or how do they compare?

E4Overlord 05-08-2014 12:11 PM

Are the 235's just pushing to much that it negates from steering response? If 225 is the better size to go with I can always change the order. I just wants the best traction I can get.

kzak104 05-08-2014 08:21 PM

i had 235s last season and changed to 225, not looking bad thats for sure.

front wheel drive is front wheel drive, your going to spin if you on/off the gas like most of the retards on this site.

also 235 are going to look ballooned on anything less than a 8-8.5 inch rim

yellowsupercharged06 05-08-2014 09:01 PM

Im running the nt05 on an 18x8 225/40 love them.

The dunlop dz2 are tested to be superior ... There discontinued tho.... Dz2 star spec is next an will be an even faster tire

Sorry for any confusion but I was talking about the Dz2 star spec compared to the nt05. Which is better? The Dz2 star spec is what I'm currently on with full bolt ons zfr and it's still kinda spinning in 2nd at 40mph. LOL I want something that will not spin if possible but will still be safe in the rain. Is there such a thing? LMAO. I know the star specs are great, especially in the rain, but I was just wondering how they stack up against the nt05 in both dry and wet conditions. Thanks...

E4Overlord 05-09-2014 12:20 PM

Thanks for the responses guys, I went ahead and changed the order to the 225's. I'm looking forward to getting them put on.

damn those look nice, i just got nt555's should have got these lol

andrewcarr1993 05-10-2014 01:59 AM

You're looking for something like a NT01 before you'll be able to hook in second.

No tire but the best drag slick is gonna hook at that rpm, the beginning stage of 2nd's boost ramp is a killer.

I'm currently on Michelin pilot sports but I was offered a decent deal on nt05s. Would it be worth it to upgrade. I'm getting wheel spin in 2nd above 4k rpm and looking for an improvement

-Tony- 05-10-2014 10:48 PM

^ I'm at approx 330hp with full bolt ons

Are those DOT approved? If so, how do they grab in the rain? Because I don't wanna die on the way back home if it rains. LOL Also, the treadwear on that is like what, 100? LOL

If that really is the case then I think I'm just going to stick with the star specs. I've driven them in the rain before with plenty of confidence. Then when it's dry, you don't even have to warm the tires up too much either. It's almost like it's always on kill mode. So far I think those have been the best DD tires.

alerosaint 05-13-2014 03:58 PM

Nt05 will spin but you have superior forward motion....pretty much everything short of drag slicks will spin. Nt05 are OK in the rain.just ok. I wouldn't push them like my all seasons

I see. So there's no street tires that won't spin with the zfr strapped on huh.. I guess I'll be sticking with my star specs then... LOL, Thanks.

According to Nitto they are DOT approved, but don't count on much wet traction

I put on the nitto neo gens and I love them I bought them in January and they were great in the snow. Dry warm pavement they hook up amazing I'd run them again
