Someday I will have some 19s. Just waiting for some better choices with the 5x110 pattern ;( Some real nice 19s out there for other patterns and very light weight too. I seen some for imports, they weigh like 19 pounds each and are 19x8 @ 19 pound each
|
18's are quicker ;)
|
im getting the rial 19s also, only diff btw the 19 and 18s are like 1.4 weight difference lol
|
i will be getting my new 19" Crux this week and my tires should be here too, so hopefully ill be posting pics of them by this weekend

Plus, in all honesty, when I switched from 18"s to 19"s, I didn't feel any noticeable decrease in performance. I still light them up through first and into second, and hammer it down from a roll. :twothumbs |

depends. Some 19"s actually weigh LESS than 18"s. For instance, my 19"s are 24.5lbs each (w/o tires) and I guarantee thats less thansome 18" chrome wheels weigh. Really depends on the style of the wheel, how it was made, and the finish (painted, chrome, etc etc). Axis uses hollow spoke technology on alot of their wheels (not mine unfourtunantly) making some of their 18"s lighter than many 17"s, their 17"s lighter than many 16"s, etc etc.

weight isnt the only factor that applies when it has to do with bigger wheels
All I can say to really defend my 19"s is this. My car isn't a race car. Its a street car.....a daily driver that OCCASIONALLY see's racing action. If it was strictly a race car, then yeah.......it'd probally be sporting some small, lightweight wheels. But on my dailly commute, I "profile" in the slow lane more than I speed in the fast lane.....HOV sucks anyways b/c that just puts you closer to the cops that patrol the median, lol. Gotten two exhaust warnings while cruising in HOV. I stay as far the the median as possible and try to hide my car from the cops, lol. But anyways, my point is this: if your car is a full time race car, part time street car, then smaller wheels make more sense. But if your car is a full time street car, part time race car.....then it really shouldn't make a difference. Sure, with a bigger wheel you gotta be more careful about rough roads......but shoot, I swerved to avoid all the potholes even when I had my stock 17"s w/ a 50 profile tire on, so my 19"s w/ a 35 profile make me drive no different. Oh, that and you lose the ability the make decent U-Turns, lol. :twothumbs |
lol bro i hear ya. i debated for quite awhile between 18's or 19's. but im more performanced based so i went with the 18's. i would have gone smaller but i do like to show as well.

As for tuning for me, its been a long road finding someone legit and true to their word to come through with anything HP Tuners related for my car, but I finally caught a break. GTP (fellow 2.4SS owner) has two friends who are really good w/ HP Tuners, and they are gonna buy the credits, tune it and dyno it (dyno tune for AFR settings too) for $300. The only reason im holding off until Sep.-Oct. is b/c I wanna get the new K&N 2.4SS specific intake before I tune. I have an AEM CAI for a 2.2 'balt on there now, and while it works good enough, I want an intake engineered for a 2.4 on there before I get it tuned. Once I have that (ordering it next paycheck, Aug 31) and I install it, then ill get the $300 together and head up to NY for them to tune away. Also, before I tune it im throwing on the SS/SC injectors + new harness i've had sitting in my room for ages to really optimize the results of my tune. I can't wait! :twothumbs |
