stock rims and bigger tires, SS sc with 17" wheels.

Please post
- pic car side, rear, and front views
- state tire size, type of springs lowering springs or stock
- your impressions of the tire you brought compared to stock (traction, handling, torque steer increased/decreased, Traction, any 60'times)
- would you do anything different.

Bump to get some action...........Lets go!

Infernokron 07-16-2007 02:45 AM

Give me a week or 2 here and I can probably get you some pics of my bro's SS/SC with hopefully, 225/40/18, 225/50/17, and 245/45/17 tires :).

His car came with the stock 18 in wheels, and the 225/40/18 tires. We have some 245/45/17 Blizzak's so he got the 17 in wheels to mount them on, and I have a bald set of 225/50/17's that will probably go on the 17 in wheels until winter. Hopefully that explains why we have 3 different tire sizes and 2 wheel sizes .:)

YAHHH! that is what I want to see. The 17" wheels are they from a cobalt SS N/A? steel rims? what does the rim measure in width?

Anyone with other wheels? I know your out there.

Anyone with the G5 wheel. maybe a photoshop of it?

I have a 2.2 with the 15's. Went to 17's with 225/45zr17's. Stock springs. The rims are a bit heavy but the car handles alot better. Will be lowered in 2 weeks. I have pics just dont know how to post them.

http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t54/sick06cobalt/ <--- Go there thats mine.. I have plenty of pics on there...

I have 17" motegei DP12s with rinkin raptor 215/50/17 tires and the stock springs...
The tires have lasted really well so far and the handling is 10x better because of the widened stance

Nice pics but too dark to see the tires, need better pics to show its stance, and quite honestly cause I have 215's already I am looking for pics of cars with wider tires than that.

If you get better pics you should post them though.... thanx

17x7.5 Sport Edtion F2's (cheap winter rims, $75/pc) With Avon Tech M550's 235/40/17. All around better than the stocks. 2.2 60' with them :) But they are just winters, I have a set of Nitto 555's waiting to go on when tread is gone on the pirelli's.

I just got home from Sears where they mounted my new 245/45/17s on the stock 17" wheel.

LOOKS AMAZING!!! Very happy!

I'll take a few pics when I get the chance.

that is awsome guys. any rub issues? are you stock with springs.

Eh wicked are you going with 245/45r17 NITTO's DR's? that is just wicked. I hope to do the same. 235/40r17 is interesting though. will think about that.

WickedSS2005 07-17-2007 11:47 AM

Actually the stock rims are back on and I'm gonna be running 245/35/18 555's on them. The 17's are for the colder half of the year. I'm on stock suspension btw. No rubbing issues with the 235's, the 245's may be iffy.

Asphalt Assault 07-17-2007 04:00 PM

245/35r18's likely wont work. that is too low of a profile for the rim width at 7". you need 8" at a minimum I believe. I have seen another member with 235/40r18 with some rub issues in the back and the tires wear more in the center due to the skinny rim. just a heads up.

WickedSS2005 07-17-2007 06:01 PM

Eh, they were free and basically brand new.... they can wear however they want

that is cool I would do the same. how are they wearing for you then?

WickedSS2005 07-24-2007 09:18 AM

I dopn't knwo yet. Still on the stock rubber on my 18's. I won't know until next pring when I put the new tires on. My winters go on in a couple months

2K5SS/SC? 07-24-2007 10:56 AM

Check my gallery, the ones closer to the front are with the drop. My wheels are 17x7.5 Rota Subzeros with a 38mm offset. I have 235/45/17 Toyo T1R's with SSC springs. I shaved 10lbs on each corner helping the car become more responsive in the turns, and the wider tires help out traction tremendously. I am very happy with my setup.

NS06G5 07-24-2007 11:29 PM

running 215/45r17's on stock suspension. No rub issues, but the tires are General somthing, and are crap! Any ideas on what would be a good tire in the water and when it's dry, without breaking my bank book?
