Tire size/brand question

So the tires plus near me is having a 'You pay what we pay" type of deal on tires, Bridgestone and firestone only, I know nothing over tire sizes or brands, I live in florida so I don't need to worry about snow traction, just what type would be best for DD/traction at the drag strip, I plan on getting them on 18x8 wheels on a stock ride height LSJ, but I plan on going on eibach springs soon after and don't want anymore wheel well rub then I already have

Is the first number how "Low profile" the tire is? the higher number meaning thicker?

1st#=how wide the tire is
2nd= how tall it is
3rd= the diameter of the wheel

Got quoted at 148.12$ per tire, about to google them now, didn't seem like too great of a deal unless these are more expensive then I think
