To upgrade or not to upgrade that is the Question

I got the factory 4 lug rims on my LS right now. I am looking at putting better rims on it. Should I keep the 15s or up it to 17s? I have heard as well as seen on graphs that the smaller tire is better performance wise but the bigger rims look better.

Save the money for another car :)

toledobalt 09-24-2014 04:02 PM

There is no need to. The 2.2l is very under rated and can perform tremendously with right time, parts. I do not line the 4 lug setup though

buy bolt on m62 kit

16" steelies and go sleeper. I stick to the 15"s but its all personal preference.

BlackielawlessSS 09-24-2014 04:59 PM

They make some decent 4 lug wheels. I say do it.

Mr Mall Cop 09-24-2014 05:41 PM

17's would look good on it

BlackielawlessSS 09-24-2014 05:42 PM

I agree bill

Mr Mall Cop 09-24-2014 05:46 PM

Not a wheel expert but I think the rims off a 2.4 SS would look good

BlackielawlessSS 09-24-2014 06:00 PM

I believe they were all 5 lug

Mr Mall Cop 09-24-2014 06:08 PM

I do think that is very true

BlackielawlessSS 09-24-2014 06:56 PM

ss/2.4 and the sport were 5 lug. I looked it up.

Mr Mall Cop 09-24-2014 07:00 PM

I remember my 06 had 5

toledobalt 09-24-2014 08:40 PM

I agree I wanted to put the 2.4 rims but the whole lug thing. I am thinking I should just meet in the middle and possibly go 16s

You already have a terrible suspension. Going to a smaller tire wall and heavier rims will make your ride horrendous. Best bet is to upgrade your suspension and then do a hub swap and get stock ss/tc rims.

Better in some ways but wider is better, as well as stopping. Also a light weight wheel helps.

It's your call though I say 17-18'' because it looks the best but beware the ride will suffer.

I did all that and have SS/TC wheels, currently off in the process of polishing with IRL winter wheels and PF01's on it now.

I think I am going to go with upgrading the 15s for now. And eventually getting a better suspension to put 5 lug wheels on. I have a buddy that has a LS to and would be willing to buy my 4 lug 15s after I upgrade the suspension

BlackielawlessSS 09-25-2014 10:57 AM

I think it will look so much better. Are you lowered?

Viperoni 09-25-2014 12:02 PM

OZ Superturismo or bust.

It is not lowered now however as I am updating the suspension I will be defiantly dropping it an inch or two.

BlackielawlessSS 09-26-2014 06:57 AM

Nice what springs are you going to go with?

toledobalt 09-26-2014 07:40 AM

More than likely I will use Eibach but I am also looking at Megan Racing.
