K & N Typhoon CAI Estimated Release
Hey,
Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up I contacted K & N about their Typhoon CAI for the 2.2L Ecotec asking about an expected release date. The reply indicated it should be out within the next 2 to 3 months so you might want to wait on an Injen to see what K & N has up their sleeve.
If you want to receive an e-mail when the product becomes available you can go here and fill it out with your information and they'll contact you when it's released. Just a word of caution though, I would assume this means you'll also begin receiving marketing on a regular basis from K & N.

2-3 months? That's shitty. A month ago, Modern Performance said they'd be release in 30 days (ie right now). Liars!!
Or did they mean the 2.0L only? Maybe that's coming sooner?

GM has released a TSB stating that "excessively oiled" re-usable air filters can cause issues with the MAF, resulting in the service engine soon light coming on, and poor performance, including slow starts from a stop, transmission issues, and a couple of other things. The TSB instructs the techs to first look for an oiled filter if the customer presents these symptoms. If the customer DOES have an oiled filter, then any repairs are NOT covered under warranty!
This is his source doc.

The issue comes when people re-oil the filters during the scheduled service interval, and they use too much oil. The excess oil then gets pulled into the intake, where it clings onto the MAF sensor, rendering it innaccurate or possibly damaging it.
Bottom line is that the pre-oiled K&N filters will NOT screw up your car. They are precisely oiled at the factory - there is no excess oil to come off and mess things up. Just be careful when you service your filter not to apply too much oil
