I think the ss version will look good. I didn't care for the cruze at first but after seeing one in person here, a base one looks alot better in person. Plus the interior is 100x nicer than the Balt

"you know what Pepper, you can't polish a turd."
it's another four-door anonymous people mover with the soul of a daewoo.
a Cruze RS or SS is the same thing as having a cucumber stuffed down your pants... sure it looks impressive, but when you drop your trousers, it's nothing but produce.
this car has basically shitcanned any future GM purchase. I can't really afford a Camaro, so where does that leave me? Who else makes a small, fun to drive compact available in a coupe or 3-door?

I'm a coupe fan too, but this Sedan is not bad...
Both coming to the US as Aveo's

I'm not sure if many have been keeping up to date with the current Cruze on
Motortrend, or at the New York Autoshow this week, but the release of the Cruze RS and Eco package have many curious as to when or if we will ever see a Cruze SS. As a fan of the Cobalt SS, and the muscular appearance of the two cars, a Cruze SS would be a dream come true haha. So I stumbled upon this picture.
This is not the Cruze SS that GM would sell, but notable is the body kit and low ride appearance (+ rims). This version of the Cruze is sold in Singapore as an SS package. It costs $3500 and includes only an appearance package and a low suspension, the engine is the same. I assume that foreign countries who already have the Cruze may opt for the appearance and not be too worried about performance. So if GM is thinking about a super sport, then this is a step in the right direction. Perhaps they are testing whether the SS package sells well.

Since this was my last post on the subject, i feel I should revisit. I drove a new Cruze LTZ a couple of weekends ago. I was very impressed by the feel of the car, the fit and finish, the interior was spectacular for a small, economy car and the 1.4L felt like it swallowed a shitload of steroids and the manumatic was actually pretty good, but there is no replacement for a true manual transmission...
HOWEVER, the deal breakers for the LTZ are:
no manual transmission for the turbo engine
no coupe model
no SS package
as a counterpoint, I drove one of the bargain basement dick-n-jane 1.8L Cruze models with the manual transmission. Again, fit and finish were excellent, but the 1.8L felt frustrating. With the older 2.2L Cobalts, the displacement offset the weight of the car. With the 1.8L, it's just not up to the terrain where I live. In the 15 mile loop I drove, it felt like I was shifting all the damn time. The engine was also very 'buzzy'(?), almost like it was letting you know that you were beating the **** out of it. The gearbox was good, about the same as the base level Cobalt, but the gearing itself was odd. 2nd was too short and third was too long. 4th was long and 5th was almost too tall. Obviously, GM is counting on most people to buy the juicebox. Handling was good, but the el cheapo tires were the weak point. Still, if it came in a coupe model, it would be an excellent replacement for the Cobalt.
the deal breakers on the lower level car:
not gutsy enough an engine for day to day life
no coupe model
weak, cheap tires
