08-10 SS Turbocharged General Discussion Discuss the 2008 - 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbocharged. On sale since the second quarter of 2008.

Why can't people believe an ss/tc runs 13.5 stock?

I ran a 13.88 with I/H/E/reflash and stock tires in my 07 SI, which is half the torque (literally) and probably 40 HP or so less with the add-ons. If I could run a 13.88 with that, a 13.5 or less is certainly feasible in an 08+ SS

Stop being a ******* ricer, with your damn math.

And to the other ss/tc nuthuggers in here. Dont use the damn under 25k bullshit with me. You are ******* buying a "econobox" for 25k LOL. 6 more grand you could of bought an evo, or sti, or mustang gt, or two ******* cobalt ss/sc's.

Money is the stupidest arguement to ever use in something like this. Power and quality can not be determined by price. Get a life and stop hugging your damn cobalt steering wheel, and stop wacking off the damn shifter.

Get an ss/sc for cheap turbo swap or go tvs, if money is making you guys get your panties in a bunch.

Now stop with all the ****** benching racing, and magazine times.

/thread.

Everyone can pick and choose a dyno here or there, but on average the Cobalt is putting down about 20 more horsepower and ~10 ft-lbs more torque than the average Neon did when new and completely stock. But beyond just peak numbers the Cobalt also has an advantage of not choking off on the top end due to a turbocharger turbine/exhaust housing that's too small like on the Neon.

I've seen the thread on the other site and I'm not going to post any more in what's already becoming a flame fest. I'd say drop it and who cares. The problem with trying to make comparisons is that every track is different and may have drastically different traction, humidity, temperature, elevation, etc. that affect the density altitude. You also have some cars that might be slightly more powerful, great drivers, and so on. I've compared the cars on the same track, same conditions, same drivers, and known modifications (and lack thereof) and the Cobalt, stock-for-stock, is quicker and faster.

You're not going to change the minds of those who have already come to their own conclusion. Since many of the cars didn't start getting delivered until late last year we should see a lot more Cobalts hitting the tracks as they start to open up this season. When that happens there will be a larger sampling to extrapolate times from, but still that's only going to give you an average/estimate to go off of. Unless you can compare a sampling of cars under controlled conditions and minimize variables you're not going to get much better than that.
Its nice to see a well known srt forum member post this although...they may not be as impressed...

Theory is all rainbows and lolipops, but the fact of the matter is the people driving the SS/TC are in the same boat as everyone else. A drivers race. The SS/TC is not that much faster that its going to automatically run better times. Its not like a termi, where u can expect the average driver to run high 12's, or a GTO where u can expect the driver to run low 13's, high 12's. The SS/TC is expected to hit low 14's, high 13's on a good day with the average driver. This is applicable to the other cars in its class.

Being a little hypocritcal now aren't we?

No Mr.my car is capable of 11.7 with a shitload of upgrades I don't have so therefore I'm the fastest even though my car has never run that. That is what I meant. 13.9 awesome, it's still a pumpkin box, but as long as you like it that is all that matters.

Honestly, I would rather have a NSRT-4 than my Cobalt and a CSRT-4 than a NSRT-4. They look good and 4dr is a plus IMO. With average drivers both a CSRT-4 and SS/TC will run about the same times.

Luck you you 1badss/sc you didn't have to wait 70billion years for the Mopar STG 1.
