Jack the car up, grab the tire at 12 and 6, and try to rock it toward you. Shouldn't be any play.

If there is play... we've found your problem.

If you take your wheel off, and turn your hub assembly you will be able to feel if your bearings are shot. It should be smooth and tight when they rotate.
And road noise depends a lot on what tires your running. I don't get too much noise from mine. Not a roaring sound by any means.

I'm starting to have this same issue. I doubt its under the powertrain warrenty. Any idea how much this costs to get fixed or is this something that can be done by anyone with general auto mechanical knowledge

Its not too hard. timken bearings for the non SS are like 180 I think. So probably around there or a bit more for the 5 stud.
You have to remove the wheel, caliper, possibly caliper bracket, rotor, and maybe axle nut? I haven't done one yet so I'm not 100%

Yes it falls within powertrain warranty. They will argue that but the warranty states drive axle (complete) which includes bearing.

Remove the axle nut, caliper, rotor, and then the three bolts that attach the bearing to the knuckle. If its not already loose, you might need to use a puller to get the axle free of the splines inside the bearing.

Disconnect the ABS wiring harness from the back side of the bearing, and then it should be ready to remove. After three winters in the salt belt, mine wouldn't come out easy so I wound up removing the entire knuckle from the car and having the bearing pressed out at a shop (I used some anti-seize on the new bearing so hopefully next time will be easier).

does the nosie go away around turns? specificaly in one direction? say when you take a right the noise gets quiter and when you turn left its louder? when the noise is louder, the bearing on the opposite side of the direction you are turning is the bad bearing.

Left turn with loud roar = RF wheel Bearing
Right turn with loud roar = LF Wheel Bearing

How can I tell if my car has abs or not? "Without driving and slamming on brakes to see if the wheels would lock up" just threw that in there because I knew someone was gonna say it. There are two diff. bearings abs and non abs.

look under the hood, is there an abs module and lines?

look on the back of the wheel bearing, is there a connector plug for the abs sensor?

if the answers are "yes" then u have abs.
