Installed an intake on the GS!!

Yesterday I installed this baby....

Now the car actually feels and sounds like a performance car. While the GS has a nice exhaust note (does not sound like a 4 cylinder), the turbo sounds just weren't there.

I'm must say, I'm really starting to enjoy the spooling sound. I was always partial to supercharger whine, but it's def starting to grow on me.

The K&N intake kit was easy to install, and the quality is top notch! Best part is the intake utilizes the factory MAF sensor housing.

Thanks!

Nah, I actually like the engine cover. Hides that little tiny 2.0 and messy hoses and wires.

I had a guy at a show I was at ask me if it was a V6, Lol.

My SS/SC's engine compartment was much neater. This one looks messy w/o the cover on.

Then it's time for a wire tuck

What did he think it was an Indy car v6 with a 2.0L?

Good job! I kind of have both whines- turbo, which is great and quiet supercharger due to 4.45 gears......

who knows!

Prob assumed it to be a 3.8 like the 80's and late 90's early 00's Regals.

I agree with the turbo noises staged I love the sound when I hear boost building in my evo! Makes me can't wait to finish swapping my turbo in my balt since it will be a lot more raw!

Thanks!

Yeah the K&N being black matches the charge piping to.

The GM Stage kit for the Regals comes with an intake and tune, but the intake is gaudy looking.

It has one of those fish tank air cleaner housings, and just doesn't look right. Also, the price for the kit is outrageous. $600 for the intake and tune, plus another $100 to have the dealer flash the tune. I'd be interested in the tune alone if they ever make that available.

Yeah... it's highly over priced, and the intake looks terrible.

Stock 2012-2013 GS's dyno on avg. 230whp 265wtq

GM Stage Kit GS's dyno on avg. 250whp 280wtq

Not a huge gain for all that money. Aftermarket tunes are getting much higher results, even with the stock intake & exhaust.

New car is sick. I'm constantly browsing AutoTrader for manual Regal GS or Turbo Veranos. I just need my '01 LeSabre to die so the wife lets me get a new car lol.

If you all haven't driven a GS you would be pretty surprised I think. We've had a couple new ones at my dealership and they are very fun to drive, but they aren't crazy fast. They seem to have quite a bit of potential. I've looked into getting a used one for a clean, comfortable daily. Btw Staged average tire life and sometimes front pad life is around 20k miles if you didn't know. And those tires aren't cheap lol. When is the ZFR coming?

Pshh, I welcome that kind of mileage for tires.

My tires on my SS/SC never lasted more than 12k miles, lol.

I've priced tires, and they aren't much more than what I was spending on my SS. So no worries. Luckily the tires on my GS are brand new, so I won't have to worry for a while!!

I agree the car isn't crazy fast, but it moves out nicely, and has oodles of low end power & passing power.

Best way to describe it coming from my 300whp LSJ is, the GS will hold its own until about 5500 rpm, than my SS/SC would have pulled it hard for sure.

Also the new ones got docked 11hp compared to my 2013. I like the surge of power the LHU provides over the smoother LTG engine in the 2014-2017 GS's.
