Question for our suspension gurus, reguarding shocks
Alrighty, I currently have installed Progress lowering springs on my 2.2L.
I had it done by a buddy, but we broke an axel and it got fixed at the dealership, and our suspension guy aka Mr. Goodwench said my rear springs are upside down.
When installed: streched part on top, compressed part on bottom.
After dealership: stretched part on bottom, compressed part on top.
First off, is this bad? (I'm a noob when it comes to stuff like this)
Secondly, my girlfriend's stepfater, who is a mechanic was looking at the drop awhile back, and noticed my right rear shock had fluid on the side of it. He suggested replacing it.
So my second question is; what stock shock should I get? I do not want to go aftermarket for Koni, I wanted to know if it would be better to get either a 2.4 "sport ride" shock or the 2.0 shock.
Thanks

I don't know if there is a difference between the OEM shocks themselves. I know the springs are different.
If there are different shocks then get the SS/SC (2.0L) ones as they would already be made better for the lower stance.

wow the dealership was actually right yes the compressed part goes on the top and as far as shocks go any stock shock is gonna blow with lowering springs its just a matter of time. it could blow right away or it could take 15k but the point is there is no point putting stock shocks on there your just gonna waste your money
So should I go with the FE5 shocks or just the Koni rear shocks. I'm not looking for Koni's for the front since major modification is needed. Would this be useful.
BTW: The roads here in Tucson are crap, pot-hole galore, not really smooth. So would Koni's be my answer to my rear issue?
Note: I'm getting some sort of squeeking noise from the rear when I take off from a stop. Would that be the shocks?
Edit: I'll post pics on the springs for refrence.

getting Koni's for just the back is retarded as hell...you'll have a nice smooth ride in the back and bumpy as **** in the front...lol
Just get Koni's all around, it's not that hard to do or get your GF's stepfather to help you out.

I pulled the stock FE1 rear shocks off my car tonight. Only 11K miles on them. They're yours for 40 bucks shipped.
i agree with the above posters, progress springs will probably blow out any of the stock shocks, so it's not worth buying new ones unless you go aftermarket (koni). I suggest you do the koni's all around if you've got the cash. The drilling and hacking required for the fronts really isn't a big deal and shouldn't take very long. Just man up, or git er done, or whatever the preferred saying is in your locality.
