Water Temp gauge help!!!

I installed my water temp gauge and I followed the two wires (yellow and cream) from the temp sensor and connected the water temp gauge to the yellow wire. The temp gauge works and the dash coolant does not? Is this correct?

Also when I start the car up the fan seems to kick on with the water temp gauge hooked up and it does not kick on when the gauge is not hooked up. I am confused

Please help

Your new gauge should have its own sending unit. The OEM sender has a resistance value that changes with temperature and you probably altered that with your gauge.

I have the automete pro comp gauge that has one wire for ground, one wire for powe, and one wire for the sender. I just cant figure out how to wire it up for it to work properly.

Anyone else install one?
