X2
I know some members have upgraded their base model cluster (120 MPH) to the Sport Package one (140 MPH) but the SS/SC cluster (160 MPH) I thought would not work

Yeah...the PCM just sends a speed and the IC in the cluster decides where the needles go. Just make sure you match the model years together. 05-06s have chimes/click sounds from a speaker in the cluster. The 07s have chimes in the head unit. So I made that mistake and have chimes in stereo. Also, the 07 cluster DIC menu is changed from the button over the GMLAN network, where the 05-06 gauges are a simple grounding signal button, so I can't navigate through my DIC menu anymore either, although I have an idea to make it work.

Soooo: If you have an 07 and an aftermarket headunit, you can essentially skip the box to keep your chimes and just buy a 06 gauge cluster and rewire the button to the DIC signal wire.
