Anyone else have gear whine in their f35 diff's
My new trans has maybe 8K miles on it and over the last week the ring and pinion is starting to whine . This trans hasnt even seen any hard driving , it went it at the start of winter and Ive driven like puss all winter . What gives ....my 65K mile original trans didnt whine ?!?! Havent checked the fluid yet , just wondering if anyone has the same condition .
I'm having the same problem except it is in pretty much every gear under light accelleration. I made a post about it earlier https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/drivetrain-79/tranmission-chatter-101905/ What's the deal? Wonder if it has something to do with the limited slip like posted in that bulletin.
reverse will whine in all cars as they use straight cut gears. straight cut gears in anything will whine.
i have a coast down noise aswell, gm told me it was normal and it generally is. we have cars come through our shop all the time with gear noise and its hard to get rid of. as long as its not exessive, we never make any promisses that we will get rid of it and wont even pull a tranny apart just for a slight gear noise. now when its lound and obvious, something needs to be done about it. gear noises are just caused by the gears meshing and extreme tolerences are needed to make it dead quiet, something most manufacturors wont do. as long as its not exessive, its just fine.
in the case of it starting after driving, what can happen is the bearings break in and develop a little more clearance the gear pattern thats worn in from day 1 changes, causing some noise. if its not bad, dont worry about it. if it gets worse take it in.
