Newb, Have Brief Questions, Need Answers, 2006 Cobalt LS

Hi, have a bone stock 2006 Cobalt LS, here are my questions......

1.) Is there an OEM Kit i can get for my model Cobalt, not an aftermarket body kit, an OEM one. If so, where can i order it and whats approximate price??

2.) What springs would give me the best drop?? Not too low, but a nice drop and decent ride. Dont have the money for coilovers.

3.) Where can i get an HID Kit with bulbs and ballasts from?? Looking for 6000K.

Thanks.

1. you can get the SS or the SS/SC kit/lips but they're EXPENSIVE. try www.crateenginedepot.com not sure but they may be able to help you out with it

2. eibach sportlines are the nicest looking drop but the pro kit supposedly handles nicely too if ride height is an issue

3. just about everywhere but http://www.automotivelightingusa.com/ could help you out too.

Ok, my girlfriends car needs her oil changed now. I've never changed the oil on her cobalt LS before, its an 06. Can anyone tell me on a scale of 1 to 10 how easy or hard it is to get to the oil filter on that particular model cobalt?? Is the oil filter anything like a Honda's Oil Filter? Is it the type of oil filter that you just twist off and twist a new one on? Or is it some newer type of filter that requires a tool to get it out?? I would like to change it today so if anyone could please answer this, that would be great. Also, how many quarts of oil does this car take on a typical oil change?

1.)OEM kits for an LS, you should check with a dealer or someone parting out in the classifieds (alot of LS/LT's upgrade to SS/SC kits, so then dont need stock body stuff)

2.) Ebiach Sportlines offer a 2-2.5 drop front and back on the LS's...if that is to much if look for the Pro Kit (same company) that is a 1.5-1.75 drop on LS's i believe

3.) google search....maybe eBay if you can trust it...

And you immediately ask about body kits.

open the hood, and look down. you'll see a black 1 1/4" nut to the right of the intake manifold. unscrew that top, take out the filter, put the new one in, and tighten. game over.

Wow, Thats it? Sounds mad easy and simple compared to changing an oil filter that twists on and is full of oil. Can i expect any oil to be inside the filter when i pull it out? I just want to prevent major mess.

not really. it's a paper style filter, so there shouldn't be much oil in it at all, just a little around the edges but it's not like the twist on type where you unscrew it and oil pours out.

and the actual oil pan is obviously under the car, i think it's like a 13mm nut. should be sefl explanatory though

A small amount of oil will be present because its a small paper like filter. A rag or a few paper towels handy will prevent any messes. Its alot easier on other non-supercharged cobalts. Our oil filter is underneath the supercharger. Sorry about flaming you a little. I just think that body kits are super duper stupid. Especially that god awful dealer rice kit that they like to throw on 2.2s and charge 23 grand for it. You know the one with the dual exhaust.

Nah man, its all good. This car aint even mine. Its my girls. Shes the one buggin me bout helping her hooke her cobalt up, which i could care less about cuz i dont like the cobalts to begin with, especially her regular LS model which is whatever. I dont even know what kits exist for the damn cobalt LS, believe me, i know what rice looks like, i know whats hot and whats not, and i was never trying to research garbage lookin kits. If we can get her a nice clean lip kit that flows that doesnt look like aftermarket garabage, that would be good enough. I dont even know what the dealers kits look like sooo, think before you assume stuff. I dont drive a cobalt. I have a 99 Acura 3.2 TL, modded up and sittin clean. Ok well, thanks for the info, you guys are great. I guess ill be changin her **** today.

One more thing, about how many quarts of oil do i need to put in it for the oil change?? Whats the usual amount that the car takes?

Beware the lowering on the Eibach Pro Kit. It will only lower your base LT to Cobalt SS standards. I actually knew someone who owned an SS and put Pro Kit springs in and it did nothing, lmao!

it's pretty well known that the pro kit doesn't lower the ss/sc at all. it does however help with the handling.

for the oil level. 5 Liters/Quarts.

Please, if you/her do decide on HIDs, make sure they are in a projector housing. Not the stock housing, or you'll blind everyone, and most likely get a ticket.
