spare key

anyone know how much it costs to get a spare key made?

Dealership said they would have to specal order the key b/c it's a brand new GM key design... it also has to be programmed with the transponder code.... they quoted me $30.... so I said no thanks.

a locksmith can make you a spare key , that will only unlock the doors .

But it will not start the car , due to NO Transponder . which is not a bad idea for a hide a key ..

I checked with several local hardware stores and other places that make keys about a month ago... after I passed on the dealership's offer... they didn't have any of the proper blanks in stock.

Security key is $100.00 cnd (60.00 us.) through my dealer. $30.00 us. is a deal.

The cobalt has a transponder? WHERE? I don't see it anywhere on the key unless it's underneath the black plastic part.

$30 isn't that bad for me. is that just the key or key and remote?

that was just for one key... call your dealer and see what they say... I think the PKG with remote is like $60 or something crazy... and yes... the transponder is inside the key.
